Jesus Heals a Centurion’s Servant

7After Jesus had finished saying all these things to the people who were there listening, he went to Capernaum.G1161G1893G4137G3956G846G4487G1519G189G2992G1525G1519G2584
2There a centurion's servant, whom he valued highly, was sick and about to die.G1161G5100G1543G1401G3739G2258G1784G846G2192G2560G3195G5053
3When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him to ask him to come and save his servant's life.G1161G191G4012G2424G649G4314G846G4245G2453G2065G846G3704G2064G1295G846G1401
4So they went to Jesus and begged him repeatedly, "He deserves to have this done for him,G1161G3854G4314G2424G3870G846G4709G3004G3754G2076G514G3739G3930G5124
5because he loves our people and built our synagogue for us."G1063G25G2257G1484G2532G846G3618G2254G4864
6So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to tell Jesus, "Sir, stop troubling yourself, because I'm not worthy to have you come under my roof.G1161G2424G4198G4862G846G1161G846G568G2235G3756G3112G575G3614G1543G3992G5384G4314G846G3004G846G2962G4660G3361G4660G1063G1510G3756G2425G2443G1525G5259G3450G4721
7That's why I didn't presume to come to you. But just say the word, and let my servant be healed,G1352G3761G515G1683G515G2064G4314G4571G235G2036G3056G2532G3450G3816G2390
8because I, too, am a man under authority and have soldiers under me. I say to one 'Go' and he goes, to another 'Come' and he comes, and to my servant 'Do this' and he does it."G1063G1473G2532G1510G444G5021G5259G1849G2192G5259G1683G4757G2532G3004G5129G4198G2532G4198G2532G243G2064G2532G2064G2532G3450G1401G4160G5124G2532G4160
9When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him. Turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, "I tell you, not even in Israel have I found this kind of faith!"G1161G2424G191G5023G2296G846G2532G4762G2036G3793G190G846G3004G5213G2147G5118G4102G3761G1722G2474
10Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant in perfect health.G2532G3992G5290G1519G3624G2147G1401G5198G770

Jesus Raises a Widow’s Son

11Soon afterwards, Jesus went to a city called Nain. His disciples and a large crowd were going along with him.G2532G1096G1722G1836G4198G1519G4172G2564G3484G2532G2425G846G3101G4848G846G2532G4183G3793
12As he approached the entrance to the city, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his mother's only son, and she was a widow. A large crowd from the city was with her.G1161G5613G1448G4439G4172G2532G2400G1580G2348G1580G3439G5207G846G3384G2532G846G2258G5503G2532G2425G3793G4172G2258G4862G846
13When the Lord saw her, he felt compassion for her. He said to her, "You can stop crying."G2532G2962G1492G846G4697G1909G846G2532G2036G846G2799G3361
14Then he went up and touched the bier, and the men who were carrying it stopped. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!"G2532G4334G680G4673G1161G941G2476G2532G2036G3495G3004G4671G1453
15The man who had been dead sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.14G2532G3498G339G2532G756G2980G2532G1325G846G846G3384
16Fear gripped everyone, and they began to praise God, saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us," and "God has helped his people."G1161G2983G5401G537G2532G1392G2316G3004G3754G3173G4396G1453G1722G2254G2532G3754G2316G1980G846G2992
17This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding countryside.G2532G3778G3056G4012G846G1831G1722G3650G2449G2532G1722G3956G4066

John the Baptist Sends Messengers to Jesus

18John's disciples told him about all these things. So John called two of his disciplesG2532G3101G2491G518G846G4012G3956G5130
19and sent them to the Lord to ask, "Are you the Coming One, or should we wait for someone else?"G2532G2491G4341G1417G5100G846G3101G3992G4314G2424G3004G1488G4771G2064G2228G4328G243
20When the men had come to Jesus, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, 'Are you the Coming One, or should we wait for someone else?'"G1161G435G3854G4314G846G2036G2491G910G649G2248G4314G4571G3004G1488G4771G2064G2228G4328G243
21At that time Jesus had healed many people of diseases, plagues, and evil spirits and had given sight to many who were blind.G1161G1722G846G5610G2323G4183G575G3554G2532G3148G2532G4190G4151G2532G4183G5185G5483G991
22So he answered them, "Go and tell John what you have observed and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear again, the dead are raised, and the destitute hear the good news.G2532G2424G611G2036G846G4198G518G2491G3739G1492G2532G191G3754G5185G308G5560G4043G3015G2511G2974G191G3498G1453G4434G2097
23How blessed is anyone who is not offended by me!"G2532G3107G2076G3739G4624G3362G4624G1722G1698
24When John's messengers had gone, Jesus began to ask the crowds about John. "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind -G1161G32G2491G565G756G3004G4314G3793G4012G2491G5101G1831G1519G2048G2300G2563G4531G5259G417
25Really, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fancy clothes? See, those who wear fine clothes and live in luxury are in royal palaces.G235G5101G1831G1492G444G294G1722G3120G2440G2400G1722G1741G2441G2532G5225G5172G1526G1722G933
26Really, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and even more than a prophet!G235G5101G1831G1492G4396G3483G3004G5213G2532G4055G4396
27This is the man about whom it is written, 'See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.'G3778G2076G4012G3739G1125G2400G1473G649G3450G32G4253G4675G4383G3739G2680G4675G3598G1715G4675
28I tell you, no one has ever been born who is greater than John. Yet even the least important person in the kingdom of God is greater than he."G1063G3004G5213G1722G1084G1135G2076G3762G3187G4396G3187G2491G910G1161G3398G1722G932G2316G2076G3187G846
29By having been baptized with John's baptism, all the people who listened, including the tax collectors, acknowledged God's justice.G2532G3956G2992G191G2532G5057G1344G2316G907G908G2491
30But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God's plan for themselves by refusing to be baptized by John.G1161G5330G2532G3544G114G1012G2316G1519G1438G907G3361G907G5259G846
31Jesus continued, "To what may I compare the people living today?G1161G2962G2036G5101G3767G3666G444G5026G1074G2532G5101G1526G3664
32They are like little children who sit in the marketplace and shout to each other, 'A wedding song we played for you, the dance you simply scorned. A woeful dirge we chanted, too, but then you did not mourn.'G1526G3664G3813G2521G1722G58G2532G4377G240G2532G3004G832G5213G2532G3738G3756G3738G2354G5213G2532G2799G3756G2799
33Because John the Baptist has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine, yet you say, 'He has a demon!'G1063G2491G910G2064G3383G2068G740G3383G4095G3631G2532G3004G2192G1140
34The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look! He's a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'G5207G444G2064G2068G2532G4095G2532G3004G2400G5314G444G2532G3630G5384G5057G2532G268
35Wisdom is vindicated by all her children."G2532G4678G1344G575G3956G846G5043

Jesus Forgives a Sinful Woman

36Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to eat with him. So he went to the Pharisee's home and took his place at the table.G1161G5100G5330G2065G846G2443G5315G3326G846G2532G1525G1519G5330G3614G347
37There was a woman who was a notorious sinner in that city. When she learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's home, she took an alabaster jar of perfumeG2532G2400G1135G1722G4172G3748G2258G268G1921G3754G345G1722G5330G3614G2865G211G3464
38and knelt at his feet behind him. She was crying and began to wash his feet with her tears and dry them with her hair. Then she kissed his feet over and over again, anointing them constantly with the perfume.G2532G2476G3844G846G4228G3694G2799G756G1026G846G4228G1144G2532G1591G2359G846G2776G2532G2705G846G4228G2532G218G3464
39Now the Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this and said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who is touching him and what kind of woman she is. She's a sinner!"G1161G5330G3588G2564G846G1492G2036G1722G1438G3004G3778G1487G2258G4396G302G1097G5101G2532G4217G1135G3748G680G846G3754G2076G268
40Jesus said to him, "Simon, I have something to ask you.""Teacher," he replied, "ask it."G2532G2424G611G2036G4314G846G4613G2192G5100G2036G4671G1161G5346G1320G2036
41"Two men were in debt to a moneylender. One owed him50 0 denarii, and the other50 .G2258G5100G1157G1417G5533G1520G3784G4001G1220G1161G2087G4004
42When they couldn't pay it back, he generously canceled the debts for both of them. Now which of them will love him more?"G1161G846G2192G3361G591G5483G297G2036G3767G5101G846G25G846G4119
43Simon answered, "I suppose the one who had the larger debt canceled."Jesus said to him, "You have answered correctly."G4613G611G1161G2036G5274G3754G3739G5483G4119G1161G2036G846G2919G3723G2919
44Then, turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You didn't give me any water for my feet, but this woman has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.G2532G4762G4314G1135G5346G4613G991G5026G1135G1525G1519G4675G3614G1325G3756G5204G1909G3450G4228G1161G3778G846G1026G3450G4228G1144G2532G1591G2359G846G2776
45You didn't give me a kiss, but this woman, from the moment I came in, has not stopped kissing my feet.G1325G3427G3756G5370G1161G3778G846G575G3739G1525G1257G3756G1257G2705G3450G4228
46You didn't anoint my head with oil, but this woman has anointed my feet with perfume.G3450G2776G1637G218G3756G218G1161G3778G846G218G3450G4228G3464
47So I'm telling you that her sins, as many as they are, have been forgiven, and that's why she has shown such great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven loves little."G3739G5484G3004G4671G846G266G3588G4183G863G3754G25G4183G1161G3739G3641G863G25G3641
48Then Jesus said to the woman, "Your sins are forgiven!"7G1161G2036G846G4675G266G863
49Those who were at the table with them began to say among themselves, "Who is this man who even forgives sins?"7G2532G4873G756G3004G1722G1438G5101G2076G3778G3739G863G266G2532
50But Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith had saved you. Go in peace."G1161G2036G4314G1135G4675G4102G4982G4571G4198G1519G1515
