The Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers

12Then He began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a place for the wine vat and built a tower. And he leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country.G2532G756G3004G846G1722G3850G444G5452G290G2532G4060G5418G2532G3736G5276G2532G3618G4444G2532G1554G846G1554G1092G2532G589 2"Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that he might receive some of the fruit of the vineyard from the vinedressers.G2532G2540G649G4314G1092G1401G2443G2983G3844G1092G575G2590G290 3"And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed.G1161G2983G1194G846G2532G649G2756 4"Again he sent them another servant, and at him they threw stones, wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully treated.G2532G3825G649G4314G846G243G1401G2548G3036G2775G2532G649G821 5"And again he sent another, and him they killed; and many others, beating some and killing some.G2532G3825G649G243G2548G615G2532G4183G243G3303G1194G1161G615 6"Therefore still having one son, his beloved, he also sent him to them last, saying, 'They will respect my son.'G2192G2089G3767G1520G5207G846G27G649G846G2532G2078G4314G846G3004G3754G1788G3450G5207 7"But those vinedressers said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'G1161G1565G1092G2036G4314G1438G3754G3778G2076G2818G1205G615G846G2532G2817G2071G2257 8"So they took him and killed him and cast him out of the vineyard.G2532G2983G846G615G2532G1544G1854G290 9"Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vinedressers, and give the vineyard to others.G5101G4160G3767G2962G290G4160G2064G2532G622G1092G2532G1325G290G243 10"Have you not even read this Scripture: 'The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.G314G3761G314G5026G1124G3037G3739G3618G593G3778G1096G1519G2776G1137 11This was the LORD'S doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes'?"G3778G1096G2962G1096G3844G2532G2076G2298G1722G2257G3788 12And they sought to lay hands on Him, but feared the multitude, for they knew He had spoken the parable against them. So they left Him and went away.G2532G2212G2902G846G2532G5399G3793G1063G1097G3754G2036G3850G4314G846G2532G863G846G565

The Pharisees: Is It Lawful to Pay Taxes to Caesar?

13Then they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words.G2532G649G4314G846G5100G5330G2532G2265G2443G64G846G3056 14When they had come, they said to Him, "Teacher, we know that You are true, and care about no one; for You do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?G1161G2064G3004G846G1320G1492G3754G1488G227G2532G4671G3756G3199G4012G3762G1063G991G3756G1519G4383G444G235G1321G3598G2316G1909G225G1832G1325G2778G2541G2228G3756 15"Shall we pay, or shall we not pay?" But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius that I may see it."G1325G2228G3361G1325G1161G1492G846G5272G2036G846G5101G3985G3165G5342G3427G1220G2443G1492 16So they brought it. And He said to them, "Whose image and inscription is this?" They said to Him, "Caesar's."G1161G5342G2532G3004G846G5101G3778G1504G2532G1923G1161G2036G846G2541 17And Jesus answered and said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they marveled at Him.G2532G2424G611G2036G846G591G2541G3588G2541G2532G2316G3588G2316G2532G2296G1909G846

The Sadducees: What About the Resurrection?

18Then some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him; and they asked Him, saying:G2532G2064G4314G846G4523G3748G3004G1511G3361G386G2532G1905G846G3004 19"Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man's brother dies, and leaves his wife behind, and leaves no children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.G1320G3475G1125G2254G3754G1437G5100G80G599G2532G2641G1135G2532G863G3361G5043G2443G846G80G2983G846G1135G2532G1817G4690G846G80 20"Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife; and dying, he left no offspring.G2258G2033G80G2532G4413G2983G1135G2532G599G863G3756G4690 21"And the second took her, and he died; nor did he leave any offspring. And the third likewise.G2532G1208G2983G846G2532G599G2532G3761G863G846G4690G2532G5154G5615 22"So the seven had her and left no offspring. Last of all the woman died also.G2532G2033G2983G846G2532G863G3756G4690G2078G3956G1135G599G2532 23"Therefore, in the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be? For all seven had her as wife."G1722G386G3767G3752G450G5101G1135G2071G846G1063G2033G2192G846G1135 24Jesus answered and said to them, "Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?G2532G2424G611G2036G846G4105G3756G1223G5124G4105G1492G3361G1124G3366G1411G2316 25"For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.G1063G3752G450G1537G3498G3777G1060G3777G1061G235G1526G5613G32G3588G1722G3772 26"But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?G1161G4012G3498G3754G1453G314G3756G314G1722G976G3475G5613G1909G942G2316G2036G846G3004G1473G2316G11G2532G2316G2464G2532G2316G2384 27"He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. You are therefore greatly mistaken."G2076G3756G2316G3498G235G2316G2198G5210G3767G4105G4183G4105

The Scribes: Which Is the First Commandment of All?

28Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"G2532G1520G1122G4334G191G846G4802G1492G3754G611G846G2573G1905G846G4169G2076G4413G1785G3956 29Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.G1161G2424G611G846G3754G4413G3956G1785G191G2474G2962G2257G2316G2076G1520G2962 30'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.G2532G25G2962G4675G2316G1537G3650G4675G2588G2532G1537G3650G4675G5590G2532G1537G3650G4675G1271G2532G1537G3650G4675G2479G3778G4413G1785 31"And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."G2532G1208G3664G3778G846G25G4675G4139G5613G4572G2076G3756G243G1785G3187G5130 32So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He.G2532G1122G2036G846G2573G1320G2036G1909G225G3754G2076G1520G2316G2532G2076G3756G243G4133G846 33"And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."G2532G25G846G1537G3650G2588G2532G1537G3650G4907G2532G1537G3650G5590G2532G1537G3650G2479G2532G25G4139G5613G1438G2076G4119G3956G3646G2532G2378 34Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." But after that no one dared question Him.G2532G2424G1492G3754G846G611G3562G2036G846G1488G3756G3112G575G932G2316G2532G3762G3765G5111G1905G846

Jesus: How Can David Call His Descendant Lord?

35Then Jesus answered and said, while He taught in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?G2532G2424G611G3004G1321G1722G2411G4459G3004G1122G3754G5547G2076G5207G1138 36"For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."'G1063G1138G846G2036G1722G40G4151G2962G2036G3450G2962G2521G1537G3450G1188G2193G302G5087G4675G2190G4675G5286G4228 37"Therefore David himself calls Him 'Lord'; how is He then his Son?" And the common people heard Him gladly.G1138G3767G846G3004G846G2962G2532G4159G2076G846G5207G2532G4183G3793G191G846G2234

Beware of the Scribes

38Then He said to them in His teaching, "Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces,G2532G3004G846G1722G846G1322G991G575G1122G3588G2309G4043G1722G4749G2532G783G1722G58 39"the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts,G2532G4410G1722G4864G2532G4411G1722G1173 40"who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation."G2719G5503G3614G2532G4392G4336G3117G4336G3778G2983G4055G2917

The Widow’s Two Mites

41Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much.G2532G2424G2523G2713G1049G2334G4459G3793G906G5475G1519G1049G2532G4183G4145G906G4183 42Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans.G2532G2064G3391G4434G5503G906G1417G3016G3603G2835 43So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury;G2532G4341G846G3101G3004G846G281G3004G5213G3754G3778G4434G5503G906G4119G906G3956G906G1519G1049 44"for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."G1063G3956G906G1537G846G4052G1161G3778G846G1537G846G5304G906G3956G3745G2192G3650G846G979
