14After two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death.G1161G1417G2250G2258G3957G2532G3326G106G2532G749G2532G1122G2212G4459G2902G846G1722G1388G615 2But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people."G1161G3004G3361G1722G1859G3379G2071G2351G2992

The Anointing at Bethany

3And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head.G2532G846G5607G1722G963G1722G3614G4613G3015G846G2621G2064G1135G2192G211G3464G3487G4101G4185G2532G4937G211G2708G2596G846G2776 4But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, "Why was this fragrant oil wasted?G1161G2258G5100G23G4314G1438G2532G3004G1519G5101G1096G3778G684G3464G1096 5"For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they criticized her sharply.G1063G5124G1410G4097G1883G5145G1220G2532G1325G4434G2532G1690G846 6But Jesus said, "Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me.G1161G2424G2036G863G846G863G5101G2873G3930G846G2038G2570G2041G1519G1691 7"For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always.G1063G2192G4434G3326G1438G3842G2532G3752G2309G1410G4160G846G2095G1161G1691G2192G3756G3842 8"She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial.G4160G3739G3778G846G2192G4301G3462G3450G4983G1519G1780 9"Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her."G281G3004G5213G3699G302G5124G2098G2784G1519G3650G2889G2532G3739G3778G846G4160G2980G1519G3422G846

10Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them.G2532G2455G2469G1520G1427G565G4314G749G2443G3860G846G846 11And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought how he might conveniently betray Him.G1161G191G5463G2532G1861G1325G846G694G2532G2212G4459G2122G3860G846

Jesus Celebrates the Passover with His Disciples

12Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they killed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, "Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?"G2532G4413G2250G106G3753G2380G3957G846G3101G3004G846G4226G2309G565G2090G2443G5315G3957 13And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him.G2532G649G1417G846G3101G2532G3004G846G5217G1519G4172G2532G528G5213G444G941G2765G5204G190G846 14"Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"'G2532G3699G1437G1525G2036G3617G3754G1320G3004G4226G2076G2646G3699G5315G3957G3326G3450G3101 15"Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us."G2532G846G1166G5213G3173G508G4766G2092G1563G2090G2254 16So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.G2532G846G3101G1831G2532G2064G1519G4172G2532G2147G2531G2036G846G2532G2090G3957 17In the evening He came with the twelve.G2532G1096G3798G2064G3326G1427 18Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me."G2532G846G345G2532G2068G2424G2036G281G3004G5213G3754G1520G1537G5216G3588G2068G3326G1700G3860G3165 19And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, "Is it I?" And another said, "Is it I?"G1161G756G3076G2532G3004G846G1527G3385G1473G2532G243G3385G1473 20He answered and said to them, "It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish.G1161G611G2036G846G1520G1537G1427G1686G3326G1700G1519G5165 21"The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born."G5207G444G3303G5217G2531G1125G4012G846G1161G3759G1565G444G1223G3739G5207G444G3860G2570G2258G1565G444G1487G846G1080G3756G1080

Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper

22And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."G2532G846G2068G2424G2983G740G2127G2806G2532G1325G846G2532G2036G2983G5315G5124G2076G3450G4983 23Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.G2532G2983G4221G2168G1325G846G2532G3956G4095G1537G846 24And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.G2532G2036G846G5124G2076G3450G129G2537G1242G3588G1632G4012G4183 25"Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."G281G3004G5213G3364G4095G3754G3765G1537G1081G288G2193G1565G2250G3752G4095G846G2537G1722G932G2316 26And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.G2532G5214G1831G1519G3735G1636

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial

27Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered.'G2532G2424G3004G846G3754G3956G4624G1722G1722G1698G5026G3571G3754G1125G3960G4166G2532G4263G1287 28"But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."G235G3326G3165G1453G4254G5209G1519G1056 29Peter said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be."G1161G4074G5346G846G2532G1487G3956G4624G235G3756G1473 30Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times."G2532G2424G3004G846G281G3004G4671G3754G4594G1722G5026G3571G4250G2228G220G5455G1364G533G3165G5151 31But he spoke more vehemently, "If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!" And they all said likewise.G1161G3004G3123G1537G4053G1437G3165G1163G4880G4671G3364G533G4571G3364G5615G1161G2532G3004G3956

The Prayer in the Garden

32Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here while I pray."G2532G2064G1519G5564G3739G3686G1068G2532G3004G846G3101G2523G5602G2193G4336 33And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.G2532G3880G3326G1438G4074G2532G2385G2532G2491G2532G756G1568G2532G85 34Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch."G2532G3004G846G3450G5590G2076G4036G2193G2288G3306G5602G2532G1127 35He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.G2532G4281G3397G4098G1909G1093G2532G4336G2443G1487G2076G1415G5610G3928G575G846 36And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."G2532G3004G5G3962G3956G1415G4671G3911G5124G4221G575G1700G235G3756G5101G1473G2309G235G5101G4771 37Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?G2532G2064G2532G2147G846G2518G2532G3004G4074G4613G2518G2480G3756G1127G3391G5610 38"Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."G1127G2532G4336G3363G1525G1519G3986G4151G3303G4289G1161G4561G772 39Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.G2532G3825G565G4336G2036G846G3056 40And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.G2532G5290G2147G846G2518G3825G1063G846G3788G2258G916G2532G3756G1492G5101G611G846 41Then He came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.G2532G2064G5154G2532G3004G846G2518G3063G2532G373G566G5610G2064G2400G5207G444G3860G1519G5495G268 42"Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand."G1453G71G2400G3860G3165G1448

Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane

43And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.G2532G2112G846G2089G2980G3854G2455G1520G5607G1427G2532G3326G846G4183G3793G3326G3162G2532G3586G3844G749G2532G1122G2532G4245 44Now His betrayer had given them a signal, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him and lead Him away safely."G1161G3860G846G1325G846G4953G3004G3739G302G5368G846G2076G2902G846G2532G520G806 45As soon as He had come, immediately he went up to Him and said to Him, "Rabbi, Rabbi!" and kissed Him.G2532G2064G4334G2112G846G3004G4461G4461G2532G2705G846 46Then they laid their hands on Him and took Him.G1161G1911G846G5495G1909G846G2532G2902G846 47And one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.G1161G5100G1520G3936G4685G3162G3817G1401G749G2532G851G846G5621 48Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me?G2532G2424G611G2036G846G1831G5613G1909G3027G3326G3162G2532G3586G4815G3165 49"I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled."G2252G2250G2596G4314G5209G1722G2411G1321G2532G2902G3165G3756G235G1124G2443G4137 50Then they all forsook Him and fled.G2532G3956G863G846G5343

A Young Man Flees Naked

51Now a certain young man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him,G2532G190G846G1520G5100G3495G4616G4016G1909G1131G2532G3495G2902G846 52and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.G1161G2641G4616G5343G575G846G1131

Jesus Faces the Sanhedrin

53And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes.G2532G520G2424G520G4314G749G2532G846G4905G3956G749G2532G4245G2532G1122 54But Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the servants and warmed himself at the fire.G2532G4074G190G846G3113G575G2193G2080G1519G833G749G2532G2258G4775G3326G5257G2532G2328G4314G5457 55Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none.G1161G749G2532G3650G4892G2212G3141G2596G2424G1519G2289G846G2289G2532G2147G3756 56For many bore false witness against Him, but their testimonies did not agree.G1063G4183G5576G2596G846G2532G3141G2258G2470G3756G2258 57Then some rose up and bore false witness against Him, saying,G2532G450G5100G5576G2596G846G3004 58"We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.'"G3754G2249G191G846G3004G3754G1473G2647G5126G3485G5499G2532G1223G5140G2250G3618G243G886 59But not even then did their testimony agree.G2532G3761G3779G2470G846G3141G2258G2470 60And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?"G2532G749G450G1519G3319G1905G2424G3004G3756G611G3762G5101G3778G2649G4675 61But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"G1161G4623G2532G611G3762G3825G749G1905G846G2532G3004G846G1488G4771G5547G5207G2128 62Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."G1161G2424G2036G1473G1510G2532G3700G5207G444G2521G1537G1188G1411G2532G2064G3326G3507G3772 63Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What further need do we have of witnesses?G1161G749G1284G846G5509G3004G5101G5532G2192G2089G3144 64"You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.G191G988G5101G5316G5213G1161G3956G2632G846G1511G1777G2288 65Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" And the officers struck Him with the palms of their hands.G2532G5100G756G1716G846G2532G4028G846G4383G2532G2852G846G2532G3004G846G4395G2532G5257G906G846G4475

Peter Denies Jesus, and Weeps

66Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came.G2532G4074G5607G2736G1722G833G2064G3391G3814G749 67And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus of Nazareth."G2532G1492G4074G2328G1689G846G3004G2532G4771G2532G2258G3326G2424G3479 68But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed.G1161G720G3004G1492G3756G3761G1987G5101G4771G3004G2532G1831G1854G1519G4259G2532G220G5455 69And the servant girl saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by, "This is one of them."G2532G3814G1492G846G3825G756G3004G3936G3754G3778G2076G1537G846 70But he denied it again. And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, "Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it."G1161G720G3825G2532G3397G3326G3936G3004G3825G4074G230G1488G1537G846G2532G1063G1488G1057G2532G4675G2981G3662 71Then he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this Man of whom you speak!"G1161G756G332G2532G3660G3754G1492G3756G5126G444G3739G3004 72A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And when he thought about it, he wept.G2532G1537G1208G220G5455G2532G4074G363G4487G3739G2424G2036G846G3754G4250G220G5455G1364G533G3165G5151G2532G1911G2799
