Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

6Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.G2532G1831G1564G2532G2064G1519G846G3968G2532G846G3101G190G846 2And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands!G2532G4521G1096G756G1321G1722G4864G2532G4183G191G1605G3004G4159G5129G5023G2532G5101G4678G1325G846G3754G2532G5108G1411G1096G1223G846G5495 3"Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" And they were offended at Him.G2076G3756G3778G5045G5207G3137G1161G80G2385G2532G2500G2532G2455G2532G4613G2532G1526G3756G846G79G5602G4314G2248G2532G4624G1722G846 4But Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house."G1161G2424G3004G846G3754G4396G2076G3756G820G1508G1722G846G3968G2532G1722G4773G2532G1722G846G3614 5Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.G2532G3756G1410G1563G4160G3762G1411G1508G2007G5495G3641G732G2323 6And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.G2532G2296G1223G846G570G2532G4013G2945G2968G1321

Sending Out the Twelve

7And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.G2532G4341G1427G2532G756G649G846G649G1417G1417G2532G1325G846G1849G169G4151 8He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts—G2532G3853G846G2443G142G3367G1519G3598G1508G4464G3440G3361G4082G3361G740G3361G5475G1519G2223 9but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.G235G5265G4547G2532G3361G1746G1746G1417G5509 10Also He said to them, "In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place.G2532G3004G846G3699G1437G1525G1519G3614G1563G3306G2193G302G1831G1564 11"And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!"G2532G3745G302G1209G3361G1209G5209G3366G191G5216G1607G1564G1621G5522G5270G5216G4228G1519G3142G846G281G3004G5213G2071G414G4670G2228G1116G1722G2250G2920G2228G1565G4172 12So they went out and preached that people should repent.G2532G1831G2784G2443G3340 13And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.G2532G1544G4183G1140G2532G218G1637G4183G732G2532G2323

John the Baptist Beheaded

14Now King Herod heard of Him, for His name had become well known. And he said, "John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him."G2532G935G2264G191G1063G846G3686G1096G5318G2532G3004G3754G2491G907G1453G1537G3498G2532G1223G5124G1411G1754G1722G846 15Others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is the Prophet, or like one of the prophets."G243G3004G3754G2076G2243G1161G243G3004G3754G2076G4396G2228G5613G1520G4396 16But when Herod heard, he said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!"G1161G2264G191G2036G3778G2076G2491G3754G3739G1473G607G846G1453G1537G3498 17For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.G1063G2264G846G649G2902G2491G2532G1210G846G1722G5438G1223G2266G1223G846G80G5376G1135G3754G1060G846 18For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."G1063G2491G3004G2264G3754G1832G3756G1832G4671G2192G4675G80G1135 19Therefore Herodias held it against him and wanted to kill him, but she could not;G1161G2266G1758G846G2532G2309G615G846G2532G1410G3756 20for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and he protected him. And when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.G1063G2264G5399G2491G1492G846G1342G435G2532G40G2532G4933G846G2532G191G846G4160G4183G2532G191G846G2234 21Then an opportune day came when Herod on his birthday gave a feast for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of Galilee.G2532G2121G2250G1096G3753G2264G846G1077G4160G1173G846G3175G2532G5506G2532G4413G1056 22And when Herodias' daughter herself came in and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the girl, "Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you."G2532G2364G846G2266G1525G2532G3738G2532G700G2264G2532G4873G935G2036G2877G154G3165G3739G1437G2309G2532G1325G4671 23He also swore to her, "Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom."G2532G3660G846G3754G3739G1437G154G3165G1325G4671G2193G2255G3450G932 24So she went out and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist!"G1161G1831G2036G846G3384G5101G154G1161G2036G2776G2491G910 25Immediately she came in with haste to the king and asked, saying, "I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter."G2532G1525G2112G3326G4710G4314G935G154G3004G2309G2443G1325G3427G1824G1909G4094G2776G2491G910 26And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he did not want to refuse her.G2532G935G1096G4036G1223G3727G2532G3588G4873G2309G3756G114G846 27Immediately the king sent an executioner and commanded his head to be brought. And he went and beheaded him in prison,G2532G2112G935G649G4688G2004G846G2776G5342G1161G565G607G846G1722G5438 28brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.G2532G5342G846G2776G1909G4094G2532G1325G846G2877G2532G2877G1325G846G846G3384 29When his disciples heard of it, they came and took away his corpse and laid it in a tomb.G2532G846G3101G191G2064G2532G142G846G4430G2532G5087G846G1722G3419

Feeding the Five Thousand

30Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught.G2532G652G4863G4314G2424G2532G518G846G3956G2532G3745G4160G2532G3745G1321 31And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.G2532G2036G846G1205G5210G846G2596G2398G1519G2048G5117G2532G373G3641G1063G2258G4183G2064G2532G5217G2532G3761G2119G3761G5315 32So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.G2532G565G1519G2048G5117G4143G2596G2398 33But the multitudes saw them departing, and many knew Him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Him.G2532G3793G1492G846G5217G2532G4183G1921G846G2532G4936G3979G1563G575G3956G4172G2532G4281G846G2532G4905G4314G846 34And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.G2532G2424G1831G1492G4183G3793G2532G4697G1909G846G3754G2258G5613G4263G3361G2192G4166G2532G756G1321G846G4183 35When the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him and said, "This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late.G2532G5610G1096G2235G4183G846G3101G4334G846G3004G3754G2076G2048G5117G2532G2235G5610G4183 36"Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat."G630G846G630G2443G565G1519G68G2945G2532G2968G59G1438G740G1063G2192G5101G3756G5315 37But He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?"G611G1161G2036G846G1325G5210G846G5315G2532G3004G846G565G59G1250G1220G740G2532G1325G846G5315 38But He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." And when they found out they said, "Five, and two fish."G1161G3004G846G4214G740G2192G5217G2532G1492G2532G1097G3004G4002G2532G1417G2486 39Then He commanded them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass.G2532G2004G846G347G3956G347G4849G4849G1909G5515G5528 40So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties.G2532G377G4237G4237G303G1540G2532G303G4004 41And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all.G2532G2983G4002G740G2532G1417G2486G308G1519G3772G2127G2532G2622G740G2532G1325G846G3101G2443G3908G846G2532G1417G2486G3307G3956 42So they all ate and were filled.G2532G5315G3956G5315G2532G5526 43And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish.G2532G142G1427G2894G4134G2801G2532G575G2486 44Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men.G2532G5315G740G2258G5616G4000G435

Jesus Walks on the Sea

45Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away.G2532G2112G315G846G3101G1684G1519G4143G2532G4254G1519G4008G4254G4314G966G2193G846G630G3793 46And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.G2532G657G846G657G565G1519G3735G4336 47Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land.G2532G3798G1096G4143G2258G1722G3319G2281G2532G846G3441G1909G1093 48Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by.G2532G1492G846G928G1722G1643G1063G417G2258G1727G846G2532G4012G5067G5438G3571G2064G4314G846G4043G1909G2281G2532G2309G3928G846 49And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out;G1161G1492G846G4043G1909G2281G1380G1511G5326G2532G349 50for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid."G1063G3956G1492G846G2532G5015G2532G2112G2980G3326G846G2532G3004G846G2293G1510G1473G5399G3361G5399 51Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled.G2532G305G4314G846G1519G4143G2532G417G2869G2532G3029G1839G1722G1438G1537G4053G2532G2296 52For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.G1063G4920G3756G1909G740G1063G846G2588G2258G4456

Many Touch Him and Are Made Well

53When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there.G2532G1276G2064G1909G1093G1082G2532G4358 54And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him,G2532G846G1831G1537G4143G2112G1921G846 55ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was.G4063G1565G3650G4066G756G4064G1909G2895G2192G2560G3699G191G3754G1563G2076 56Wherever He entered into villages, cities, or in the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.G2532G3699G302G1531G1519G2968G2228G4172G2228G68G5087G770G1722G58G2532G3870G846G2443G680G2579G2579G2899G846G2440G2532G3745G302G680G846G4982
