Jesus is Rejected at Nazareth

6Jesus left that place and went back to his hometown, and his disciples followed him.G2532G1831G1564G2532G2064G1519G846G3968G2532G846G3101G190G846
2When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were utterly amazed. "Where did this man get all these things?" they asked. "What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What great miracles are being done by his hands!G2532G4521G1096G756G1321G1722G4864G2532G4183G191G1605G3004G4159G5129G5023G2532G5101G4678G1325G846G3754G2532G5108G1411G1096G1223G846G5495
3This is the builder, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon, isn't it? His sisters are here with us, aren't they?" And they were offended by him.2G2076G3756G3778G5045G5207G3137G1161G80G2385G2532G2500G2532G2455G2532G4613G2532G1526G3756G846G79G5602G4314G2248G2532G4624G1722G846
4Jesus was telling them, "A prophet is without honor only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own home."G1161G2424G3004G846G3754G4396G2076G3756G820G1508G1722G846G3968G2532G1722G4773G2532G1722G846G3614
5He couldn't perform a miracle there except to lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.G2532G3756G1410G1563G4160G3762G1411G1508G2007G5495G3641G732G2323
6He was amazed at their unbelief. Then he went around to the villages and continued teaching.G2532G2296G1223G846G570G2532G4013G2945G2968G1321

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

7He called the twelve disciples and began to send them out two by two, giving them authority over unclean spirits.G2532G4341G1427G2532G756G649G846G649G1417G1417G2532G1325G846G1849G169G4151
8He instructed them to take nothing along on the trip except a walking stick - no bread, no traveling bag, nothing in their moneybag.G2532G3853G846G2443G142G3367G1519G3598G1508G4464G3440G3361G4082G3361G740G3361G5475G1519G2223
9They could wear sandals but not take along an extra shirt.G235G5265G4547G2532G3361G1746G1746G1417G5509
10He told them repeatedly, "Whenever you go into a home, stay there until you leave that place.G2532G3004G846G3699G1437G1525G1519G3614G1563G3306G2193G302G1831G1564
11If any place will not welcome you and the people refuse to listen to you, when you leave, shake its dust off your feet as a testimony against them."G2532G3745G302G1209G3361G1209G5209G3366G191G5216G1607G1564G1621G5522G5270G5216G4228G1519G3142G846G281G3004G5213G2071G414G4670G2228G1116G1722G2250G2920G2228G1565G4172
12So they went and preached that people should repent.G2532G1831G2784G2443G3340
13They also kept driving out many demons and anointing with oil many who were sick, and healing them.11G2532G1544G4183G1140G2532G218G1637G4183G732G2532G2323

The Death of John the Baptist

14King Herod heard about this, because Jesus' name had become well-known. He was saying, "John the Baptist has been raised from the dead! That's why he is able to do these miracles."G2532G935G2264G191G1063G846G3686G1096G5318G2532G3004G3754G2491G907G1453G1537G3498G2532G1223G5124G1411G1754G1722G846
15Others were saying, "He is Elijah." Still others were saying, "He is a prophet like one of the other prophets."G243G3004G3754G2076G2243G1161G243G3004G3754G2076G4396G2228G5613G1520G4396
16But when Herod heard about it, he said, "John, whom I beheaded, has been raised,"G1161G2264G191G2036G3778G2076G2491G3754G3739G1473G607G846G1453G1537G3498
17because Herod himself had sent men who arrested John, bound him with chains, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, whom Herod had married.G1063G2264G846G649G2902G2491G2532G1210G846G1722G5438G1223G2266G1223G846G80G5376G1135G3754G1060G846
18John had been telling Herod, "It's not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."G1063G2491G3004G2264G3754G1832G3756G1832G4671G2192G4675G80G1135
19So Herodias bore a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she couldn't do itG1161G2266G1758G846G2532G2309G615G846G2532G1410G3756
20because Herod was afraid of John. He knew that John was a righteous and holy man, and so he protected him. Whenever he listened to John, he did much of what he said. In fact, he liked listening to him.G1063G2264G5399G2491G1492G846G1342G435G2532G40G2532G4933G846G2532G191G846G4160G4183G2532G191G846G2234
21An opportunity came during Herod's birthday celebration, when he gave a banquet for his top officials, military officers, and the most important people of Galilee.G2532G2121G2250G1096G3753G2264G846G1077G4160G1173G846G3175G2532G5506G2532G4413G1056
22When the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests. So the king told the girl, "Ask me for anything you want, and I'll give it to you."G2532G2364G846G2266G1525G2532G3738G2532G700G2264G2532G4873G935G2036G2877G154G3165G3739G1437G2309G2532G1325G4671
23He swore with an oath to her, "I'll give you anything you ask for, up to half of my kingdom."G2532G3660G846G3754G3739G1437G154G3165G1325G4671G2193G2255G3450G932
24So she went out and asked her mother, "What should I ask for?"Her mother replied, "The head of John the Baptist."G1161G1831G2036G846G3384G5101G154G1161G2036G2776G2491G910
25Immediately the girl hurried back to the king with her request, "I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter."G2532G1525G2112G3326G4710G4314G935G154G3004G2309G2443G1325G3427G1824G1909G4094G2776G2491G910
26The king was deeply saddened, yet because of his oaths and his guests he was reluctant to refuse her.G2532G935G1096G4036G1223G3727G2532G3588G4873G2309G3756G114G846
27So without delay the king sent a soldier and ordered him to bring John's head. The soldier went and beheaded him in prison.G2532G2112G935G649G4688G2004G846G2776G5342G1161G565G607G846G1722G5438
28Then he brought John's head on a platter and gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother.G2532G5342G846G2776G1909G4094G2532G1325G846G2877G2532G2877G1325G846G846G3384
29When John's disciples heard about this, they came and carried off his body and laid it in a tomb.G2532G846G3101G191G2064G2532G142G846G4430G2532G5087G846G1722G3419

Jesus Feeds More than Five Thousand People

30The apostles gathered around Jesus and told him everything they had done and taught.G2532G652G4863G4314G2424G2532G518G846G3956G2532G3745G4160G2532G3745G1321
31He said to them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest for a while," because so many people were coming and going that they didn't even have time to eat.G2532G2036G846G1205G5210G846G2596G2398G1519G2048G5117G2532G373G3641G1063G2258G4183G2064G2532G5217G2532G3761G2119G3761G5315
32So they went away in a boat to a deserted place by themselves.G2532G565G1519G2048G5117G4143G2596G2398
33But when many people saw them leave and recognized them, they hurried on foot from all the towns and arrived ahead of them.G2532G3793G1492G846G5217G2532G4183G1921G846G2532G4936G3979G1563G575G3956G4172G2532G4281G846G2532G4905G4314G846
34When he got out of the boat, he saw a large crowd. He had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.G2532G2424G1831G1492G4183G3793G2532G4697G1909G846G3754G2258G5613G4263G3361G2192G4166G2532G756G1321G846G4183
35When it was quite late, his disciples came to him and said, "This is a deserted place, and it's already late.G2532G5610G1096G2235G4183G846G3101G4334G846G3004G3754G2076G2048G5117G2532G2235G5610G4183
36Send the crowds away so that they can go to the neighboring farms and villages and buy themselves something to eat."G630G846G630G2443G565G1519G68G2945G2532G2968G59G1438G740G1063G2192G5101G3756G5315
37But he answered them, "You give them something to eat."They asked him, "Should we go and buy20 0 denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?"G611G1161G2036G846G1325G5210G846G5315G2532G3004G846G565G59G1250G1220G740G2532G1325G846G5315
38He asked them, "How many loaves of bread do you have? Go and see." They found out and told him, "Five loaves and two fish."G1161G3004G846G4214G740G2192G5217G2532G1492G2532G1097G3004G4002G2532G1417G2486
39Then he ordered them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass.G2532G2004G846G347G3956G347G4849G4849G1909G5515G5528
40So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties.G2532G377G4237G4237G303G1540G2532G303G4004
41Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed them. Then he broke the loaves in pieces and kept giving them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.G2532G2983G4002G740G2532G1417G2486G308G1519G3772G2127G2532G2622G740G2532G1325G846G3101G2443G3908G846G2532G1417G2486G3307G3956
42All of them ate and were filled.G2532G5315G3956G5315G2532G5526
43Then the disciples picked up twelve baskets full of leftover bread and fish.G2532G142G1427G2894G4134G2801G2532G575G2486
44There were 5,000 men who had eaten the loaves.G2532G5315G740G2258G5616G4000G435

Jesus Walks on the Sea

45Jesus immediately had his disciples get into a boat and cross to Bethsaida ahead of him, while he sent the crowd away.G2532G2112G315G846G3101G1684G1519G4143G2532G4254G1519G4008G4254G4314G966G2193G846G630G3793
46After saying goodbye to them, he went up on a hillside to pray.G2532G657G846G657G565G1519G3735G4336
47When evening had come, the boat was in the middle of the sea, while he was alone on the land.G2532G3798G1096G4143G2258G1722G3319G2281G2532G846G3441G1909G1093
48He saw that his disciples were straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he came to them, walking on the sea. He intended to go up right beside them,G2532G1492G846G928G1722G1643G1063G417G2258G1727G846G2532G4012G5067G5438G3571G2064G4314G846G4043G1909G2281G2532G2309G3928G846
49but when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and began to scream.G1161G1492G846G4043G1909G2281G1380G1511G5326G2532G349
50All of them saw him and were terrified. Immediately he said to them, "Have courage! It is I. Stop being afraid!"47G1063G3956G1492G846G2532G5015G2532G2112G2980G3326G846G2532G3004G846G2293G1510G1473G5399G3361G5399
51Then he got into the boat with them, and the wind stopped blowing. The disciples were utterly astounded,G2532G305G4314G846G1519G4143G2532G417G2869G2532G3029G1839G1722G1438G1537G4053G2532G2296
52because they didn't understand the significance of the loaves. Instead, their hearts were hardened.456G1063G4920G3756G1909G740G1063G846G2588G2258G4456

Jesus Heals the Sick in Gennesaret

53When they had crossed over, they came ashore at Gennesaret and anchored the boat.G2532G1276G2064G1909G1093G1082G2532G4358
54As soon as they got out of the boat, the people recognized Jesus.G2532G846G1831G1537G4143G2112G1921G846
55They ran all over the countryside and began carrying the sick on their mats to any place where they heard he was.G4063G1565G3650G4066G756G4064G1909G2895G2192G2560G3699G191G3754G1563G2076
56Wherever he went, whether into villages, towns, or farms, people would place their sick in the marketplaces and beg him to let them touch even the tassel of his garment, and everyone who touched it was healed.G2532G3699G302G1531G1519G2968G2228G4172G2228G68G5087G770G1722G58G2532G3870G846G2443G680G2579G2579G2899G846G2440G2532G3745G302G680G846G4982
