The Resurrection

28After the Sabbath, as Sunday morning was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.G1161G3796G4521G2020G1519G3391G4521G2064G3137G3094G2532G243G3137G2334G5028 2Suddenly there was a violent earthquake; an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled the stone away, and sat on it.G2532G2400G1096G3173G4578G1063G32G2962G2597G1537G3772G4334G617G3037G575G2374G2532G2521G1883G846 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.G1161G846G2397G2258G5613G796G2532G846G1742G3022G5616G5510 4The guards were so afraid that they trembled and became like dead men.G1161G575G5401G846G5083G4579G2532G1096G5616G3498 5The angel spoke to the women. "You must not be afraid," he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.G1161G32G611G2036G1135G5399G3361G5210G1063G1492G3754G2212G2424G3588G4717 6He is not here; he has been raised, just as he said. Come here and see the place where he was lying.G2076G3756G5602G1063G1453G2531G2036G1205G1492G5117G3699G2962G2749 7Go quickly now, and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from death, and now he is going to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see him!' Remember what I have told you."G2532G4198G5035G2036G846G3101G3754G1453G575G3498G2532G2400G4254G5209G1519G1056G1563G3700G846G2400G2036G5213 8So they left the tomb in a hurry, afraid and yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.G2532G1831G5035G575G3419G3326G5401G2532G3173G5479G5143G518G846G3101G518 9Suddenly Jesus met them and said, "Peace be with you." They came up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.G1161G5613G4198G518G846G3101G2532G2400G2424G528G846G3004G5463G1161G4334G2902G846G4228G2532G4352G846 10"Do not be afraid," Jesus said to them. "Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."G5119G3004G2424G846G5399G3361G5399G565G518G3450G80G2443G5217G1519G1056G2546G3700G3165

The Report of the Guard

11While the women went on their way, some of the soldiers guarding the tomb went back to the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened.G1161G846G4198G2400G5100G2892G2064G1519G4172G518G749G537G1096 12The chief priests met with the elders and made their plan; they gave a large sum of money to the soldiersG2532G4863G3326G4245G5037G2983G4824G1325G2425G694G4757 13and said, "You are to say that his disciples came during the night and stole his body while you were asleep.G3004G2036G3754G846G3101G2064G3571G2813G846G2257G2837 14And if the Governor should hear of this, we will convince him that you are innocent, and you will have nothing to worry about."G2532G1437G5124G191G1909G2232G191G2249G3982G846G2532G275G4160G5209 15The guards took the money and did what they were told to do. And so that is the report spread around by the Jews to this very day.G1161G2983G694G4160G5613G1321G2532G3778G3056G1310G3844G2453G3360G4594

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

16The eleven disciples went to the hill in Galilee where Jesus had told them to go.G1161G1733G3101G4198G1519G1056G1519G3735G3757G2424G5021G846 17When they saw him, they worshiped him, even though some of them doubted.G2532G1492G846G4352G846G1161G1365 18Jesus drew near and said to them, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.G2532G2424G4334G2980G846G3004G3956G1849G1325G3427G1722G3772G2532G1909G1093 19Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,G4198G3767G3100G3956G1484G907G846G1519G3686G3962G2532G5207G2532G40G4151 20and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."G1321G846G5083G3956G3745G1781G5213G2532G2400G1473G1510G3326G5216G3956G2250G2193G4930G165G281
