Good News Translation Help
7And now the wall had been rebuilt, the gates had all been put in place, and the Temple guards, the members of the sacred choir, and the other Levites had been assigned their work.H2346H1129H5975H1817H7778H7891H3881H6485 2I put two men in charge of governing the city of Jerusalem: my brother Hanani and Hananiah, commanding officer of the fortress. Hananiah was a reliable and God-fearing man without equal.H251H2607H2608H8269H1002H6680H3389H571H376H3372H430H7227 3I told them not to have the gates of Jerusalem opened in the morning until well after sunrise and to have them closed and barred before the guards went off duty at sunset. I also told them to appoint guards from among the people who lived in Jerusalem and to assign some of them to specific posts and others to patrol the area around their own houses.H559H8179H3389H6605H8121H2527H5975H1479H1817H270H5975H4931H3427H3389H376H4929H376H1004

The List of Those Who Returned from Exile

4Jerusalem was a large city, but not many people were living in it, and not many houses had been built yet.H5892H7342H3027H1419H5971H4592H8432H1004H1129 5God inspired me to assemble the people and their leaders and officials and to check their family records. I located the records of those who had first returned from captivity, and this is the information I found:H430H5414H3820H6908H2715H5461H5971H3187H4672H5612H3188H5927H7223H4672H3789 6Many of the exiles left the province of Babylon and returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own hometown. Their families had been living in exile in Babylonia ever since King Nebuchadnezzar had taken them there as prisoners.H1121H4082H5927H7628H1473H5019H4428H894H1540H7725H3389H3063H376H5892 7Their leaders were Zerubbabel, Joshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, and Baanah.H935H2216H3442H5166H5838H7485H5167H4782H1114H4559H902H5149H1196H4557H582H5971H3478 8This is the list of the clans of Israel, with the number of those from each clan who returned from exile: Parosh - 2,172,H1121H6551H8147H505H3967H7657H8147 9Shephatiah - 372,H1121H8203H7969H3967H7657H8147 10Arah - 652,H1121H733H8337H3967H2572H8147 11Pahath Moab (descendants of Jeshua and Joab) - 2,818,H1121H6355H1121H3442H3097H505H8083H3967H8083H6240 12Elam - 1,254,H1121H5867H505H3967H2572H702 13Zattu - 845,H1121H2240H8083H3967H705H2568 14Zaccai - 760,H1121H2140H7651H3967H8346 15Binnui - 648,H1121H1131H8337H3967H705H8083 16Bebai - 628,H1121H893H8337H3967H6242H8083 17Azgad - 2,322,H1121H5803H8147H505H7969H3967H6242H8147 18Adonikam - 667,H1121H140H8337H3967H8346H7651 19Bigvai - 2,067,H1121H902H505H8346H7651 20Adin - 655,H1121H5720H8337H3967H2572H2568 21Ater (also called Hezekiah) - 98,H1121H333H2396H8673H8083 22Hashum - 328,H1121H2828H7969H3967H6242H8083 23Bezai - 324,H1121H1209H7969H3967H6242H702 24Hariph - 112,H1121H2756H3967H8147H6240 25Gibeon - 95.H1121H1391H8673H2568 26People whose ancestors had lived in the following towns also returned: Bethlehem and Netophah - 188,H582H1035H5199H3967H8084H8083 27Anathoth - 128,H582H6068H3967H6242H8083 28Beth Azmaveth - 42,H582H1041H705H8147 29Kiriath Jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth - 743,H582H7157H3716H881H7651H3967H705H7969 30Ramah and Geba - 621,H582H7414H1387H8337H3967H6242H259 31Michmash - 122,H582H4363H3967H6242H8147 32Bethel and Ai - 123.H582H1008H5857H3967H6242H7969 33The other Nebo - 52.H582H312H5015H2572H8147 34The other Elam - 1,254,H1121H312H5867H505H3967H2572H702 35Harim - 320,H1121H2766H7969H3967H6242 36Jericho - 345,H1121H3405H7969H3967H705H2568 37Lod, Hadid, and Ono - 721,H1121H3850H2307H207H7651H3967H6242H259 38Senaah - 3,930.H1121H5570H7969H505H8672H3967H7970 39This is the list of the priestly clans that returned from exile: Jedaiah (descendants of Jeshua) - 973,H3548H1121H3048H1004H3442H8672H3967H7657H7969 40Immer - 1,052,H1121H564H505H2572H8147 41Pashhur - 1,247,H1121H6583H505H3967H705H7651 42Harim - 1,017.H1121H2766H505H7651H6240 43Clans of Levites who returned from exile: Jeshua and Kadmiel (descendants of Hodaviah) - 74,H3881H1121H3442H6934H1121H1937H7657H702 44Temple musicians (descendants of Asaph) - 148,H7891H1121H623H3967H705H8083 45Temple guards (descendants of Shallum, Ater, Talmon, Akkub, Hatita, and Shobai) - 138.H7778H1121H7967H1121H333H1121H2929H1121H6126H1121H2410H1121H7630H3967H7970H8083 46Clans of Temple workers who returned from exile: Ziha, Hasupha, Tabbaoth,H5411H1121H6727H1121H2817H1121H2884 47Keros, Sia, Padon,H1121H7026H1121H5517H1121H6303 48Lebana, Hagaba, Shalmai,H1121H3838H1121H2286H1121H8014 49Hanan, Giddel, Gahar,H1121H2605H1121H1435H1121H1515 50Reaiah, Rezin, Nekoda,H1121H7211H1121H7526H1121H5353 51Gazzam, Uzza, Paseah,H1121H1502H1121H5798H1121H6454 52Besai, Meunim, Nephushesim,H1121H1153H1121H4586H1121H5300H5304 53Bakbuk, Hakupha, Harhur,H1121H1227H1121H2709H1121H2744 54Bazlith, Mehida, Harsha,H1121H1213H1121H4240H1121H2797 55Barkos, Sisera, Temah,H1121H1302H1121H5516H1121H8547 56Neziah, and Hatipha.H1121H5335H1121H2412 57Clans of Solomon's servants who returned from exile: Sotai, Sophereth, Perida,H1121H8010H5650H1121H5479H1121H5618H1121H6514 58Jaalah, Darkon, Giddel,H1121H3279H1121H1874H1121H1435 59Shephatiah, Hattil, Pochereth Hazzebaim, and Amon.H1121H8203H1121H2411H1121H6380H1121H526 60The total number of descendants of the Temple workers and of Solomon's servants who returned from exile was 392.H5411H1121H8010H5650H7969H3967H8673H8147 61There were 642 belonging to the clans of Delaiah, Tobiah, and Nekoda who returned from the towns of Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer;H5927H8528H8521H3743H114H564H3201H5046H1H1004H2233H3478 62but they could not prove that they were descendants of Israelites.H1121H1806H1121H2900H1121H5353H8337H3967H705H8147 63The following priestly clans could find no record to prove their ancestry: Hobaiah, Hakkoz, and Barzillai.
