The People Complain

11Now when the people complained, it displeased the LORD; for the LORD heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the LORD burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp.H5971H596H7451H241H3068H3068H8085H639H2734H784H3068H1197H398H7097H4264 2Then the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses prayed to the LORD, the fire was quenched.H5971H6817H4872H4872H6419H3068H784H8257 3So he called the name of the place Taberah, because the fire of the LORD had burned among them.H7121H8034H1931H4725H8404H784H3068H1197 4Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: "Who will give us meat to eat?H628H7130H183H8378H1121H3478H1058H7725H559H1320H398 5"We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;H2142H1710H398H4714H2600H7180H20H2682H1211H7762 6"but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!"H5315H3002H1115H4478H5869 7Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium.H4478H1407H2233H5869H5869H916 8The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and its taste was like the taste of pastry prepared with oil.H5971H7751H3950H2912H7347H1743H4085H1310H6517H6213H5692H2940H2940H3955H8081 9And when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.H2919H3381H4264H3915H4478H3381 10Then Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was greatly aroused; Moses also was displeased.H4872H8085H5971H1058H4940H376H6607H168H639H3068H2734H3966H4872H7489H5869 11So Moses said to the LORD, "Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me?H4872H559H3068H7489H5650H4672H2580H5869H7760H4853H5971 12"Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, 'Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,' to the land which You swore to their fathers?H2029H5971H3205H559H5375H2436H539H5375H3243H127H7650H1 13"Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, 'Give us meat, that we may eat.'H370H1320H5414H5971H1058H559H5414H1320H398 14"I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me.H3201H5375H5971H905H3515 15"If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now—if I have found favor in Your sight—and do not let me see my wretchedness!"H6213H2026H2026H4672H2580H5869H7200H7451

The Seventy Elders

16So the LORD said to Moses: "Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you.H3068H559H4872H622H7657H376H2205H3478H3045H2205H5971H7860H3947H168H4150H3320 17"Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.H3381H1696H680H7307H7760H5375H4853H5971H5375 18"Then you shall say to the people, 'Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the LORD, saying, "Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt." Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you shall eat.H559H5971H6942H4279H398H1320H1058H241H3068H559H1320H398H2895H4714H3068H5414H1320H398 19'You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days,H398H259H3117H3117H2568H3117H6235H3117H6242H3117 20'but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have despised the LORD who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, "Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?"'"H2320H3117H3318H639H2214H3282H3988H3068H7130H1058H6440H559H3318H4714 21And Moses said, "The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet You have said, 'I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.'H4872H559H5971H7130H8337H3967H505H7273H559H5414H1320H398H3117H2320 22"Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?"H6629H1241H7819H4672H1709H3220H622H4672 23And the LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD'S arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not."H3068H559H4872H3068H3027H7114H7200H1697H7136 24So Moses went out and told the people the words of the LORD, and he gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the tabernacle.H4872H3318H1696H5971H1697H3068H622H7657H376H2205H5971H5975H5439H168 25Then the LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, when the Spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, although they never did so again.H3068H3381H6051H1696H680H7307H5414H7657H2205H376H7307H5117H5012H3254 26But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp.H7604H8147H582H4264H8034H259H419H8034H8145H4312H7307H5117H3789H3318H168H5012H4264 27And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp."H7323H5288H5046H4872H559H419H4312H5012H4264 28So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said, "Moses my lord, forbid them!"H3091H1121H5126H8334H4872H979H6030H559H113H4872H3607 29Then Moses said to him, "Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD'S people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!"H4872H559H7065H5414H3068H5971H5030H3068H5414H7307 30And Moses returned to the camp, both he and the elders of Israel.H4872H622H4264H2205H3478

The Lord Sends Quail

31Now a wind went out from the LORD, and it brought quail from the sea and left them fluttering near the camp, about a day's journey on this side and about a day's journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground.H5265H7307H3068H1468H7958H3220H5203H4264H3117H1870H3541H3117H1870H3541H5439H4264H520H6440H776 32And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten homers); and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp.H5971H6965H3117H3915H4283H3117H622H7958H4591H622H6235H2563H7849H7849H5439H4264 33But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was aroused against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.H1320H2962H8127H3772H639H3068H2734H5971H3068H5221H5971H3966H7227H4347 34So he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.H7121H8034H4725H6914H6912H5971H183 35From Kibroth Hattaavah the people moved to Hazeroth, and camped at Hazeroth.H5971H5265H6914H2698H2698
