Ruth Meets Boaz

2There was a relative of Naomi's husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.H5281H4129H3045H376H1368H376H2428H4940H458H8034H1162 2So Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, "Please let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain after him in whose sight I may find favor." And she said to her, "Go, my daughter."H7327H4125H559H5281H3212H7704H3950H7641H310H5869H4672H2580H559H3212H1323 3Then she left, and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers. And she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.H3212H935H3950H7704H310H7114H4745H7136H2513H7704H1162H4940H458 4Now behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, "The LORD be with you!" And they answered him, "The LORD bless you!"H1162H935H1035H559H7114H3068H559H3068H1288 5Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, "Whose young woman is this?"H559H1162H5288H5324H7114H5291 6So the servant who was in charge of the reapers answered and said, "It is the young Moabite woman who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab.H5288H5324H7114H6030H559H4125H5291H7725H5281H7704H4124 7"And she said, 'Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.' So she came and has continued from morning until now, though she rested a little in the house."H559H3950H622H310H7114H6016H935H5975H227H1242H3427H4592H1004 8Then Boaz said to Ruth, "You will listen, my daughter, will you not? Do not go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay close by my young women.H559H1162H7327H8085H1323H3212H3950H312H7704H5674H1692H5291 9"Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them. Have I not commanded the young men not to touch you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn."H5869H7704H7114H1980H310H6680H5288H5060H6770H1980H3627H8354H5288H7579 10So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, "Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?"H5307H6440H7812H776H559H4672H2580H5869H5234H5237 11And Boaz answered and said to her, "It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before.H1162H6030H559H5046H5046H6213H2545H310H4194H376H5800H1H517H776H4138H3212H5971H3045H8543H8032 12"The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge."H3068H7999H6467H8003H4909H3068H430H3478H3671H935H2620 13Then she said, "Let me find favor in your sight, my lord; for you have comforted me, and have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants."H559H4672H2580H5869H113H5162H1696H3820H8198H259H8198 14Now Boaz said to her at mealtime, "Come here, and eat of the bread, and dip your piece of bread in the vinegar." So she sat beside the reapers, and he passed parched grain to her; and she ate and was satisfied, and kept some back.H1162H559H6256H400H5066H1988H398H3899H2881H6595H2558H3427H6654H7114H6642H7039H398H7646H3498 15And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, "Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her.H6965H3950H1162H6680H5288H559H3950H6016H3637 16"Also let grain from the bundles fall purposely for her; leave it that she may glean, and do not rebuke her."H7997H6653H7997H5800H3950H1605 17So she gleaned in the field until evening, and beat out what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.H3950H7704H6153H2251H3950H374H8184 18Then she took it up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. So she brought out and gave to her what she had kept back after she had been satisfied.H5375H935H5892H2545H7200H3950H3318H5414H3498H7648 19And her mother-in-law said to her, "Where have you gleaned today? And where did you work? Blessed be the one who took notice of you." So she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and said, "The man's name with whom I worked today is Boaz."H2545H559H3950H3117H375H6213H1288H5234H5046H2545H6213H559H376H8034H6213H3117H1162 20Then Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, "Blessed be he of the LORD, who has not forsaken His kindness to the living and the dead!" And Naomi said to her, "This man is a relation of ours, one of our close relatives."H5281H559H3618H1288H3068H5800H2617H2416H4191H5281H559H376H7138H1350 21Ruth the Moabitess said, "He also said to me, 'You shall stay close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.'"H7327H4125H559H559H1692H5288H3615H7105 22And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, "It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, and that people do not meet you in any other field."H5281H559H7327H3618H2896H1323H3318H5291H6293H312H7704 23So she stayed close by the young women of Boaz, to glean until the end of barley harvest and wheat harvest; and she dwelt with her mother-in-law.H1692H5291H1162H3950H3615H8184H7105H2406H7105H3427H2545
