Ruth and Boaz Meet

Now Naomi had a relative on her husband's side named Boaz. He was a prominent man of noble character from Elimelech's family.H5281H4129H3045H376H1368H376H2428H4940H458H8034H1162
Ruth the Moabitess asked Naomi, "Will you let me go into the fields and gather fallen grain behind someone who allows me to?" Naomi answered her, "Go ahead, my daughter."H7327H4125H559H5281H3212H7704H3950H7641H310H5869H4672H2580H559H3212H1323
So Ruth left and entered the field to gather [grain] behind the harvesters. She happened to be in the portion of land belonging to Boaz, who was from Elimelech's family.H3212H935H3950H7704H310H7114H4745H7136H2513H7704H1162H4940H458
Later, when Boaz arrived from Bethlehem, he said to the harvesters, "The LORD be with you." "The LORD bless you," they replied.H1162H935H1035H559H7114H3068H559H3068H1288
Boaz asked his servant who was in charge of the harvesters, "Whose young woman is this?"H559H1162H5288H5324H7114H5291
The servant answered, "She is the young Moabite woman who returned with Naomi from the land of Moab.H5288H5324H7114H6030H559H4125H5291H7725H5281H7704H4124
She asked, 'Will you let me gather fallen grain among the bundles behind the harvesters?' She came and has remained from early morning until now, except that she rested a little in the shelter."H559H3950H622H310H7114H6016H935H5975H227H1242H3427H4592H1004
Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Listen, my daughter. Don't go and gather [grain] in another field, and don't leave this one, but stay here close to my young women.H559H1162H7327H8085H1323H3212H3950H312H7704H5674H1692H5291
See which field they are harvesting, and follow [them]. Haven't I ordered the young men not to touch you? When you are thirsty, go and drink from the jars the young men have filled."H5869H7704H7114H1980H310H6680H5288H5060H6770H1980H3627H8354H5288H7579
She bowed with her face to the ground and said to him, "Why are you so kind to notice me, although I am a foreigner?"H5307H6440H7812H776H559H4672H2580H5869H5234H5237
Boaz answered her, "Everything you have done for your mother-in-law since your husband's death has been fully reported to me: [how] you left your father and mother, and the land of your birth, and [how] you came to a people you didn't previously know.H1162H6030H559H5046H5046H6213H2545H310H4194H376H5800H1H517H776H4138H3212H5971H3045H8543H8032
May the LORD reward you for what you have done, and may you receive a full reward from the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge."H3068H7999H6467H8003H4909H3068H430H3478H3671H935H2620
"My lord," she said, "you have been so kind to me, for you have comforted and encouraged your slave, although I am not like one of your female servants."H559H4672H2580H5869H113H5162H1696H3820H8198H259H8198
At mealtime Boaz told her, "Come over here and have some bread and dip it in the vinegar sauce." So she sat beside the harvesters, and he offered her roasted grain. She ate and was satisfied and had [some] left over.H1162H559H6256H400H5066H1988H398H3899H2881H6595H2558H3427H6654H7114H6642H7039H398H7646H3498
When she got up to gather [grain], Boaz ordered his young men, "Be sure to let her gather [grain] among the bundles, and don't humiliate her.H6965H3950H1162H6680H5288H559H3950H6016H3637
Pull out [some] stalks from the bundles for her and leave [them] for her to gather. Don't rebuke her.H7997H6653H7997H5800H3950H1605
So Ruth gathered [grain] in the field until evening. She beat out what she had gathered, and it was about 26 quarts of barley.H3950H7704H6153H2251H3950H374H8184
She picked up [the grain] and went into the city, where her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. Then she brought out what she had left over from her meal and gave [it] to her.H5375H935H5892H2545H7200H3950H3318H5414H3498H7648
Then her mother-in-law said to her, "Where did you gather [barley] today, and where did you work? May [the LORD] bless the man who noticed you." Ruth told her mother-in-law about the men she had worked [with] and said, "The name of the man I worked with today is Boaz."H2545H559H3950H3117H375H6213H1288H5234H5046H2545H6213H559H376H8034H6213H3117H1162
Then Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, "May he be blessed by the LORD, who has not forsaken his kindness to the living or the dead." Naomi continued, "The man is a close relative. He is one of our family redeemers."H5281H559H3618H1288H3068H5800H2617H2416H4191H5281H559H376H7138H1350
Ruth the Moabitess said, "He also told me, 'Stay with my young men until they have finished all of my harvest.'"H7327H4125H559H559H1692H5288H3615H7105
So Naomi said to her daughter-in-law Ruth, "My daughter, it is good for you to work with his young women, so that nothing will happen to you in another field."H5281H559H7327H3618H2896H1323H3318H5291H6293H312H7704
Ruth stayed close to Boaz's young women and gathered [grain] until the barley and the wheat harvests were finished. And she lived with her mother-in-law.H1692H5291H1162H3950H3615H8184H7105H2406H7105H3427H2545
