A Call to Repentance

1In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo saying,H8066H2320H8147H8141H1867H1697H3068H2148H1121H1296H1121H5714H5030H559 2"The LORD was very angry with your fathers.H3068H7110H7107H1 3"Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts," Return to Me, "declares the LORD of hosts," that I may return to you, "says the LORD of hosts.H559H559H3068H6635H7725H5002H3068H6635H7725H559H3068H6635 4"Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts," Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds. Patrol of the Earth

7On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, as follows:H702H6242H3117H6249H6240H2320H2320H7627H8147H8141H1867H1697H3068H2148H1121H1296H1121H5714H5030H559 8I saw at night, and behold, a man was riding on a red horse, and he was standing among the myrtle trees which were in the ravine, with red, sorrel, and white horses behind him.H7200H3915H376H7392H122H5483H5975H1918H4699H310H122H5483H8320H3836 9Then I said, "My lord, what are these?" And the angel who was speaking with me said to me, "I will show you what these are."H559H113H4397H1696H559H7200 10And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered and said, "These are those whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth."H376H5975H1918H6030H559H3068H7971H1980H776 11So they answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees, and said, "We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is peaceful and quiet."H6030H4397H3068H5975H1918H559H1980H776H776H3427H8252 12Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, "O LORD of hosts, how long wilt Thou have no compassion for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which Thou hast been indignant these seventy years?"H4397H3068H6030H559H3068H6635H7355H3389H5892H3063H2194H7657H8141 13And the LORD answered the angel who was speaking with me with gracious words, comforting words.H3068H6030H4397H1696H2896H1697H5150H1697 14So the angel who was speaking with me said to me, "Proclaim, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts," I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and Zion.H4397H1696H559H7121H559H559H3068H6635H7065H3389H6726H1419H7068 15"But I am very angry with the nations who are at ease; for while I was only a little angry, they furthered the disaster."H1419H7110H7107H1471H7600H4592H7107H5826H7451 16'Therefore, thus says the LORD, "I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; My house will be built in it," declares the LORD of hosts, "and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem."'H559H3068H7725H3389H7356H1004H1129H5002H3068H6635H6957H6961H5186H3389 17"Again, proclaim, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts," My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem. "'"H7121H559H559H3068H6635H5892H2896H6327H3068H5162H6726H977H3389 18Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, [there were] four horns.H5375H5869H7200H702H7161 19So I said to the angel who was speaking with me, "What are these?" And he answered me," These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem. "H559H4397H1696H559H7161H2219H3063H3478H3389 20Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen.H3068H7200H702H2796 21And I said, "What are these coming to do?" And he said, "These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man lifts up his head; but these [craftsmen] have come to terrify them, to throw down the horns of the nations who have lifted up [their] horns against the land of Judah in order to scatter it."H559H935H6213H559H559H7161H2219H3063H6310H376H5375H7218H935H2729H3034H7161H1471H5375H7161H776H3063H2219
