Answer

Hello,

Thank you for the excellent question.

First, let's clear up that God did NOT have to rest. He chose to stop the work. (For confirmation that God does not require rest, see Isaiah 40:28).

Now, why did God rest? It has to do with the concept of the Sabbath. It is a day dedicated to the rest of His creation, including you and me. For example, look at Exodus 16:29 and Mark 2:27. These verses tell us that the Sabbath is made as a gift to mankind (perhaps to the rest of the creation, including animals and plants) and that it is so that men (you and me) can rest in God's provisions.

This is why we can come to worship once a week (I am open to both Saturday and Sunday worship gatherings) and completely lay down whatever struggles we have before Him.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I want to make sure my answer is clear to you and resolves any concerns.

Thanks!

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
