The Seventh Day, God Rests

2Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.H8064H776H3615H66352And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.H7637H3117H430H3615H4399H6213H7673H7637H3117H4399H62133So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.H430H1288H7637H3117H6942H3588H7673H4399H430H1254H6213

The Creation of Man and Woman

4These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.H428H8435H8064H776H1254H3117H3068H430H6213H776H80645When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,H7880H7704H2962H776H6212H7704H2962H6779H3588H3068H430H3808H4305H776H369H120H5647H1276and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground—H5927H108H4480H776H8248H6440H1277then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.H3068H430H3335H120H6083H4480H127H5301H639H5397H2416H120H2416H53158And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.H3068H430H5193H1588H6924H5731H8033H7760H120H834H33359And out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.H4480H127H6779H3068H430H6779H6086H2530H4758H2896H3978H6086H2416H8432H1588H6086H1847H2896H745110A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers.H5104H3318H5731H8248H1588H6504H702H721811The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.H8034H259H6376H1931H5437H776H2341H834H209112And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there.H2091H1931H776H2896H916H7718H6813The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush.H8034H8145H5104H1521H5437H776H356814And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.H8034H7992H5104H2313H1980H6926H804H7243H5104H657815The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.H3068H430H3947H120H3240H1588H5731H5647H810416And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,H3068H430H6680H120H559H6086H1588H398H39817but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."H6086H1847H2896H7451H398H3117H398H4191H419118Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him."H3068H430H559H2896H120H1961H6213H582819Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.H127H3068H430H3335H2416H7704H5775H8064H935H120H7200H7121H120H7121H2416H5315H1931H803420The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.H120H7121H8034H929H5775H8064H2416H7704H120H4672H582821So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.H3068H430H5307H8639H5307H121H3462H3947H259H6763H5462H132022And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.H6763H3068H430H3947H120H1129H802H935H12023Then the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."H120H559H2063H6471H6106H6106H1320H1320H2063H7121H802H2063H3947H37624Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.H3651H376H5800H1H517H1692H802H259H132025And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.H8147H6174H120H802H954
