This imagery in which wisdom is compared to a sister and insight as a beloved member of the family is very beautiful. Just as a caring sister or beloved member of the family would prevent a man from having intimate relations with a woman who will ultimately hurt him or manipulate him, so wisdom and insight of God serves the same purpose. God, in all his loving wisdom, wants what is ultimately best for us. His words along with the wisdom and insight bestowed upon us is intended to protect us from the devastations of sin and the lies of the enemy, just as a loving sister would want to protect her brother from a shady woman.
4Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family. 5Let them protect you from an affair with an immoral woman, from listening to the flattery of a promiscuous woman.
