Next Steps

You want to know more about God and learn how you can walk with Him today.

You should join a small group near you. Here’s why:

Becoming a Christian is not something that happens because you felt it was a good idea one day. Instead, God will direct your heart to be able to believe in Him with unwavering faith.1

You have just read the Gospel message and desire to know more about God. That desire is the initial faith that God has given you to continue to explore and move in faith.

A small group is where few Christians gather to develop their faith together by sharing their lives. God wants a relationship with you, and that relationship is practiced and shown among people within small groups. Loving others is how we love God, and loving God is how we love others.

Small groups enable honest conversations and allow people to be who they are. Their sharing of lives pierces through spiritual facades, and conversations can be on topics that matter to everyday living, including work and family. You can observe Christians directly and ask questions about their faith. You can also ask them to pray for you and share what they hear from God if you seek guidance. You don’t need to feel pressured as you join them in their meetings, but we ask that you commit to your desire to learn about God.

Some Keywords

If you feel led as you read the following words and want to know more, ask your small group members to help.

Repentance. Turning away from sin. Recognizing the need for God and putting all of your trust in Him for all matters of life.

Baptism. Public declaration of your faith in front of other believers.

Prayer. A dialogue with God.

1. Many people, including Christians, mistakenly believe a burst of temporary faith is required to be a follower of Jesus. However, throughout the Scriptures, the people of Israel in the Old Testament and many followers of Jesus followed temporarily only to leave when their faith spike disappeared. (for example, see John 6:60-69, and also note that many people who believe they are Christians will end up in hell, Matthew 7:20-23).

A true Christian believes over time and does not waver in their faith. Unwavering faith requires time and God’s supernatural provision to do so. To learn more in detail, read Chapter 2 of Our Highest Calling.

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
