Humble beginnings
Sometimes we may wonder why something that God initiates does not begin with the "full package." David was not made king over all Israel from the start. Once he was made king, he was not free from struggles either. He was even dethroned by his sons and had other heart struggles as well.
God has a great purpose for each of us, and they all begin with a surrender. Often, it begins with a humble start. It is something to be thankful for because we may be proud and turn away from God if everything we may consider has been given to us. Life is a journey, and there should never be "I have accomplished it all" other than the portion that God has given us.
David's journey was not over here, and he had to continue to remain close to God for his successes. May we never be proud to stand apart from our God, and let us, too, remain in God through all the successes and failures we may encounter along the way. Let us thank God for our humble beginnings.
