Controlling God?
Eliphaz got it wrong. He teaches Job to "clean up" his life and live a holy life. When Job does that, he can demand God to do something, and God would do it.
If God can be controlled, He would not be God.
God cares more about our hearts (relationship with Him) more than the pious acts.
Unfortunately, the logic of many religions (and therefore what people think about Christianity) is about doing "holy" things to be found acceptable to God. Be so "holy" that we may gain God's favor for money, health, and fame.
Instead, we have a relationship with God. Money, health and fame can come as a blessing from God, but our lives without that are just fine. Instead of "cleaning up" our lives, we desire a deeper relationship with God. Through our walking with God, He enables our lives to be cleaned up. The difference is whether we place our trust (faith) on ourselves or God.
Do we believe in a God we can control by our perfection?
23If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored—so clean up your life. 27You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows to him. 29If people are in trouble and you say, ‘Help them,’ God will save them. 30Even sinners will be rescued; they will be rescued because your hands are pure.”

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
