Gift of tongues and prophetic -- better is what helps one another, or the Church.
In particularly Korean crowds, I often do not speak in tongues because there is a sense of being at a higher spiritual level when people speak in tongues in such cultural groups. Spiritual gifts do not make us holier than another, and it ought to be used for the purposes of encouraging one another.
This is why the Apostle Paul encourages Christians to prophesy over speaking in tongues. Prophetic words can help, give guidance to, and encourage the receiving person.
Another key important aspect of Paul's teachings is that when we speak to one another in our familiar language (for example, English), that can encourage more than if we spoke in other ways (whether it be relying on body language, or some other form of communication). The key points are the recipients, to be an encouragement to them. The Church is about one another, so that we may come together as one and go to God together.
4A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church. 5I wish you could all speak in tongues, but even more I wish you could all prophesy. For prophecy is greater than speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets what you are saying so that the whole church will be strengthened. 12And the same is true for you. Since you are so eager to have the special abilities the Spirit gives, seek those that will strengthen the whole church. 19But in a church meeting I would rather speak five understandable words to help others than ten thousand words in an unknown language. 25As they listen, their secret thoughts will be exposed, and they will fall to their knees and worship God, declaring, “God is truly here among you.”
