17. Why there was a search for a suitable partner for a man(Adam) among all the other organisms according to Genesis 2:20? Did Adam previously know that God is going to create a woman or a suitable companion for him?

Answer

Thanks for asking the question. Unfortunately, I am not sure that I understand the question exactly. If I misunderstood, please write back. I will answer the question, why didn't God find a mate for Adam from the other animals and organisms.

Let's begin with the verse you pointed out

Genesis 2:18-20
18Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him." 19So the LORD God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. 20He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still, there was no helper just right for him.

So in verse 18, God had in mind to provide a perfect partner for Adam.

Why does God want us to have a partner? (Note that if you are in the US or other non-third world country, living/working together with others actually oppose the concept of individualism.) First, it is God's nature. There is always community with God... the Trinity: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They operated together from the start, and He desired the same for the people He created.

Another picture of partnership? It is the picture of the Church. United, single-focused people, who love God together.

In order for man to fulfill God's kingdom purposes, there needed to be a partnership or community. This core partnership could not be found in any of the animals.

God modeled the unity that He had, the unity He desires in the Church by forming a woman, who is part of a man, to be united together.

We can also see that God had a special plan for a man, which was to rule over all creation, including the animals and plants.

Genesis 1:26-28
26Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground." 27So God created human beings 28Then God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground."

So none of the things the man should rule over can be suitable for him. That is why God formed a mate apart from the animals and other organisms for man. A man and a woman are to unite and be as one representing the unity between God and His people (Ephesians 5:21-33).
