Answer

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

Righteousness has to do with doing right toward one another. It goes with the Greatest Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40 ) to love God and to love others. In that, there is both acting as a result of faith and the pure belief that trusts God to act. This is why James writes that faith without action is not true faith (James 2:14+, btw, you may benefit from reading the rest of the chapter from verse 1, where it talks about prejudice toward others).

My point here is that when someone is sick, going to the doctor or taking medicine trusting God for healing is just as acceptable as those who trust God for their healing. God may direct someone in a certain direction than what is culturally expected. This is where Christians must be tolerant of those who hold faith in something, while others have been given a different way of thinking.

In the New Testament days, there were several points of contentions for believers. Should Christians eat food sacrificed to idols? Should Christians drink wine? Read Romans 14. It'll encourage you.

Again, sorry to hear about the situation you are experiencing. With the new ever-changing situation with the coronavirus, many church leaders are uncertain how to administer it for the entire congregation. I am sure you have a stance based on your experience, but I encourage you to support them with the heart of Christ and help them and everyone in your church to transition through these uncertain times. If you believe they have been intolerant, and perhaps they are in the wrong but do not act in kind. Rather, cover their wrongs and be tolerant of their mistakes.

Jesus did that for us, and that is why we can be saved today. What would Jesus do?

Please write back if you wish to dialogue further.

Blessings!
