Exodus 19

Israel at Mount Sinai

19In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai.H7992H2320H1121H3478H3318H776H4714H3117H935H4057H55142For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So Israel camped there before the mountain.H5265H7508H935H4057H5514H2583H4057H3478H2583H20223And Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:H4872H5927H430H3068H7121H2022H559H559H1004H3290H5046H1121H34784'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself.H7200H6213H4714H5375H5404H3671H9355'Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.H8085H6963H8085H8104H1285H5459H5971H7766'And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."H4467H3548H6918H1471H1697H1696H1121H34787So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the LORD commanded him.H4872H935H7121H2205H5971H7760H6440H1697H3068H66808Then all the people answered together and said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do." So Moses brought back the words of the people to the LORD.H5971H6030H3162H559H3068H1696H6213H4872H7725H1697H5971H30689And the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever." So Moses told the words of the people to the LORD.H3068H559H4872H935H5645H6051H5971H8085H1696H539H5769H4872H5046H1697H5971H306810Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes.H3068H559H4872H3212H5971H6942H3117H4279H3526H807111"And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the LORD will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.H3559H7992H3117H7992H3117H3068H3381H5869H5971H2022H551412"You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, 'Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.H1379H5971H5439H559H8104H5927H2022H5060H7097H5060H2022H4191H419113'Not a hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with an arrow; whether man or beast, he shall not live.' When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come near the mountain."H3027H5060H5619H5619H176H3384H3384H929H518H376H2421H3104H4900H5927H202214So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and sanctified the people, and they washed their clothes.H4872H3381H2022H5971H6942H5971H3526H807115And he said to the people, "Be ready for the third day; do not come near your wives."H559H5971H1961H3559H7969H3117H5066H80216Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.H7992H3117H1242H6963H1300H3515H6051H2022H6963H7782H3966H2389H5971H4264H272917And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.H4872H3318H5971H4264H7125H430H3320H8482H202218Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.H2022H5514H6225H6440H834H3068H3381H784H6227H5927H6227H3536H2022H2729H396619And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice.H6963H7782H6963H1980H2390H3966H4872H1696H430H6030H696320Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.H3068H3381H2022H5514H7218H2022H3068H7121H4872H413H7218H2022H4872H592721And the LORD said to Moses, "Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at the LORD, and many of them perish.H3068H559H4872H3381H5749H5971H2040H3068H7200H7227H530722"Also let the priests who come near the LORD consecrate themselves, lest the LORD break out against them."H3548H5066H3068H6942H3068H655523But Moses said to the LORD, "The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai; for You warned us, saying, 'Set bounds around the mountain and consecrate it.'"H4872H559H3068H5971H3201H5927H2022H5514H5749H559H1379H2022H694224Then the LORD said to him, "Away! Get down and then come up, you and Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, lest He break out against them."H3068H559H3212H3381H5927H175H3548H5971H2040H5927H3068H655525So Moses went down to the people and spoke to them.H4872H3381H5971H559

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
