Jeremiah 15

Judgment Must Come

15THEN THE Lord said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood [interceding for them] before Me, yet My mind could not be turned with favor toward this people [Judah]. Send them out of My sight and let them go!H559H3068H4872H8050H5975H6440H5315H5971H7971H6440H33182And if they say to you, Where shall we go? then tell them, Thus says the Lord: Such as are [destined] for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for famine, to famine; and such as are for captivity, to captivity.H559H3318H559H559H3068H4194H4194H2719H2719H7458H7458H7628H76283And I will appoint over them four kinds [of destroyers], says the Lord: the sword to slay, the dogs to tear {and} drag away, and the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth to devour and to destroy.H6485H702H4940H5002H3068H2719H2026H3611H5498H5775H8064H929H776H398H78434And I will cause them to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth {and} to be made a horror to all nations because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for [the horrible wickedness] which he did in Jerusalem.H5414H2189H2113H4467H776H1558H4519H1121H3169H4428H3063H6213H33895For who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem? Or who will bemoan you? Or who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?H2550H3389H5110H5493H7592H79656You have rejected {and} forsaken Me, says the Lord. You keep going in reverse. Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am weary of relenting [concerning your punishment].H5203H5002H3068H3212H268H5186H3027H7843H3811H51627I will winnow them with a fan {and} a winnowing fork in the gates of the land; I will bereave them [of children], I will destroy My people; from their [evil] ways they did not return.H2219H4214H8179H776H7921H6H5971H7725H18708I will increase the number of their widows more than the sand of the seas. I will bring upon them, [both] against the mother of young men {and} the young men [themselves], a destroyer at noonday. I will cause anguish and terrors to fall upon her [Jerusalem] suddenly.H490H6105H2344H3220H935H517H970H7703H6672H5307H6597H928H58929She who has borne seven languishes; she has expired. Her sun has gone down while it was yet day; she has been put to shame, confounded, {and} disgraced. And the rest of them I will deliver to the sword before their enemies, says the Lord.H3205H7651H535H5301H5315H8121H935H3119H3117H954H2659H7611H5414H2719H6440H341H5002H306810Woe is me, my mother, that you bore me to be a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither loaned, nor have men loaned to me, yet everyone curses me.H188H517H3205H376H7379H376H4066H776H5383H5383H704311The Lord said, Truly your release, affliction, {and} strengthening will be for good [purposes]; surely [Jeremiah] I will intercede for you with the enemy {and} I will cause the enemy to ask for your aid in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.H3068H559H3808H518H2896H8281H8293H518H341H6293H6256H7451H6256H686912Can iron break the iron from the north and the bronze?H1270H7489H6828H1270H517813Your [nation's] substance and your treasures will I give as spoil, without price, and that for all your sins, even in all your territory.H2428H214H5414H957H4242H2403H136614And I will make [your possessions] to pass with your enemies into a land which you do not know {and} I will make you to serve [your conquerors] there, for a fire is kindled in My anger which will burn upon you [Israel].H5674H341H776H3045H784H6919H639H3344

Jeremiah’s Prayer and God’s Answer

15[Jeremiah said] O Lord, You know {and} understand; [earnestly] remember me and visit me and avenge me on my persecutors. Take me not away [from joy or from life itself] in Your long-suffering [to my enemies]; know that for Your sake I suffer {and} bear reproach.H3068H3045H2142H6485H5358H7291H3947H639H750H3045H5375H278116Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.H1697H4672H398H1697H8342H8057H3824H7121H8034H3068H430H663517I sat not in the assembly of those who make merry, nor did I rejoice; I sat alone because Your [powerful] hand was upon me, for You had filled me with indignation.H3427H5475H7832H5937H3427H910H6440H3027H4390H219518Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will you indeed be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail {and} are uncertain?H3511H5331H4347H605H3985H7495H391H4325H53919Therefore thus says the Lord [to Jeremiah]: If you return [and give up this mistaken tone of distrust and despair], then I will give you again a settled place of quiet {and} safety, and you will be My minister; and if you separate the precious from the vile [cleansing your own heart from unworthy and unwarranted suspicions concerning God's faithfulness], you shall be My mouthpiece. [But do not yield to them.] Let them return to you--not you to [the people].H559H3068H7725H7725H5975H6440H3318H3368H2151H6310H7725H772520And I will make you to this people a fortified, bronze wall; they will fight against you, but they will not prevail over you, for I am with you to save {and} deliver you, says the Lord.H5414H5971H1219H5178H2346H3898H3201H3467H5337H5002H306821And I will deliver you out of the hands of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the palms of the terrible {and} ruthless tyrants.H5337H3027H7451H6299H3709H6184

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
