Genesis 6

A World Gone Wrong

6Then the people began to multiply on the earth, and daughters were born to them.H120H2490H7231H5921H6440H127H1323H3205 2The sons of God saw the beautiful womenc and took any they wanted as their wives.H1121H430H7200H1323H120H2007H2896H3947H802H977 3Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not put up withc humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years."H3068H559H7307H5769H1777H120H1571H1320H7683H3117H3967H6242H8141 4In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times.H5303H776H3117H310H3651H834H1121H430H935H1323H120H3205H1992H1368H5769H582H8034 5The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.H3068H7200H7451H120H7227H776H3336H4284H3820H7535H7451H3117 6So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.H5162H3068H6213H120H776H6087H413H3820 7And the LORD said, "I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them."H3068H559H4229H120H1254H6440H127H120H5704H929H7431H5775H8064H5162H6213 8But Noah found favor with the LORD.H5146H4672H2580H5869H3068

The Story of Noah

9This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.H8435H5146H5146H6662H376H8549H1755H5146H1980H430 10Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.H5146H3205H7969H1121H8035H2526H3315 11Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence.H776H7843H6440H430H776H4390H2555 12God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt.H430H7200H776H7843H1320H7843H1870H776 13So God said to Noah, "I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!H430H559H5146H7093H1320H935H6440H776H4390H2555H6440H7843H854H776 14"Build a large boatc from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior.H6213H8392H1613H6086H7064H6213H854H8392H3722H1004H2351H3724 15Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet highc.H6213H753H8392H7969H3967H520H7341H2572H520H6967H7970H520 16Leave an 18-inch openingc below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper.H6672H6213H8392H520H3615H4605H6607H8392H7760H6654H8482H8145H7992H6213 17"Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die.H2009H589H935H3999H4325H776H7843H1320H7307H2416H8478H8064H3605H776H1478 18But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives.H6965H1285H935H413H8392H859H1121H802H1121H802 19Bring a pair of every kind of animal—a male and a female—into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood.H2416H1320H8147H935H8392H2421H2145H5347 20Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive.H5775H4327H929H4327H7431H127H4327H8147H935H2421 21And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals."H3947H3978H398H622H402 22So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.H6213H5146H430H6680H6213
