2Kings 7

7But Elisha said, "Hear the word of the LORD: thus says the LORD, Tomorrow about this time a measure of choice meal shall be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria."H477H559H8085H1697H3068H559H3068H4279H6256H5429H5560H8255H5429H8184H8255H8179H81112Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, "Even if the LORD were to make windows in the sky, could such a thing happen?" But he said, "You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat from it."H7991H3027H4428H8172H6030H376H430H559H3068H6213H699H8064H1697H559H7200H5869H398

The Arameans Flee

3Now there were four leprous men outside the city gate, who said to one another, "Why should we sit here until we die?H702H6879H582H6607H8179H559H376H7453H3427H41914If we say, 'Let us enter the city,' the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; but if we sit here, we shall also die. Therefore, let us desert to the Aramean camp; if they spare our lives, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die."H559H935H5892H7458H5892H4191H3427H4191H3212H5307H4264H758H2421H2421H4191H41915So they arose at twilight to go to the Aramean camp; but when they came to the edge of the Aramean camp, there was no one there at all.H6965H5399H935H4264H758H935H7097H4264H758H3766For the Lord had caused the Aramean army to hear the sound of chariots, and of horses, the sound of a great army, so that they said to one another, "The king of Israel has hired the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Egypt to fight against us."H136H4264H758H8085H6963H7393H6963H5483H6963H1419H2428H559H376H251H4428H3478H7936H4428H2850H4428H4714H9357So they fled away in the twilight and abandoned their tents, their horses, and their donkeys leaving the camp just as it was, and fled for their lives.H6965H5127H5399H5800H168H5483H2543H4264H5127H53158When these leprous men had come to the edge of the camp, they went into a tent, ate and drank, carried off silver, gold, and clothing, and went and hid them. Then they came back, entered another tent, carried off things from it, and went and hid them.H6879H935H7097H4264H935H259H168H398H8354H5375H3701H2091H899H3212H2934H7725H935H312H168H5375H3212H29349Then they said to one another, "What we are doing is wrong. This is a day of good news; if we are silent and wait until the morning light, we will be found guilty; therefore let us go and tell the king's household."H559H376H7453H6213H3117H3117H1309H2814H2442H1242H216H5771H4672H3212H935H5046H4428H100410So they came and called to the gatekeepers of the city, and told them, "We went to the Aramean camp, but there was no one to be seen or heard there, nothing but the horses tied, the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were."H935H7121H7778H5892H5046H559H935H4264H758H376H6963H120H5483H631H2543H631H16811Then the gatekeepers called out and proclaimed it to the king's household.H7121H7778H5046H4428H1004H644112The king got up in the night, and said to his servants, "I will tell you what the Arameans have prepared against us. They know that we are starving; so they have left the camp to hide themselves in the open country, thinking, 'When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive and get into the city.'"H4428H6965H3915H559H5650H5046H758H6213H3045H7457H3318H4264H2247H7704H559H3318H5892H8610H2416H935H589213One of his servants said, "Let some men take five of the remaining horses, since those left here will suffer the fate of the whole multitude of Israel that have perished already; let us send and find out."H259H5650H6030H559H3947H2568H5483H7604H7604H1995H3478H7604H1995H3478H8552H7971H720014So they took two mounted men, and the king sent them after the Aramean army, saying, "Go and find out."H3947H8147H7393H5483H4428H7971H310H4264H758H559H3212H720015So they went after them as far as the Jordan; the whole way was littered with garments and equipment that the Arameans had thrown away in their haste. So the messengers returned, and told the king.H3212H310H3383H1870H4392H899H3627H758H7993H2648H4397H7725H5046H442816Then the people went out, and plundered the camp of the Arameans. So a measure of choice meal was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.H5971H3318H962H4264H758H5429H5560H8255H5429H8184H8255H1697H306817Now the king had appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to have charge of the gate; the people trampled him to death in the gate, just as the man of God had said when the king came down to him.H4428H6485H7991H3027H8172H8179H5971H7429H8179H4191H376H430H1696H1696H4428H338118For when the man of God had said to the king, "Two measures of barley shall be sold for a shekel, and a measure of choice meal for a shekel, about this time tomorrow in the gate of Samaria,"H376H430H1696H4428H559H5429H8184H8255H5429H5560H8255H4279H6256H8179H811119the captain had answered the man of God, "Even if the LORD were to make windows in the sky, could such a thing happen?" And he had answered, "You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat from it."H7991H6030H376H430H559H3068H6213H699H8064H1697H559H7200H5869H39820It did indeed happen to him; the people trampled him to death in the gate.H5971H7429H8179H4191

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
