Esther 7
New International Version (1984) Help
7So the king and Haman went to dine with Queen Esther,H4428H2001H935H8354H635H4436 2and as they were drinking wine on that second day, the king again asked, "Queen Esther, what is your petition? It will be given you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be granted."H4428H559H635H8145H3117H4960H3196H7596H4436H635H5414H1246H6213H2677H4438 3Then Queen Esther answered, "If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, grant me my life--this is my petition. And spare my people--this is my request.H635H4436H6030H559H4672H2580H5869H4428H2895H4428H5315H5414H7596H5971H1246 4For I and my people have been sold for destruction and slaughter and annihilation. If we had merely been sold as male and female slaves, I would have kept quiet, because no such distress would justify disturbing the king."H4376H5971H8045H2026H6H432H4376H5650H8198H2790H6862H7737H4428H5143 5King Xerxes asked Queen Esther, "Who is he? Where is the man who has dared to do such a thing?"H4428H325H559H559H635H4436H4390H3820H6213 6Esther said, "The adversary and enemy is this vile Haman." Then Haman was terrified before the king and queen.H635H559H376H6862H341H7451H2001H2001H1204H6440H4428H4436 7The king got up in a rage, left his wine and went out into the palace garden. But Haman, realizing that the king had already decided his fate, stayed behind to beg Queen Esther for his life.H4428H6965H4960H3196H2534H1055H1594H2001H5975H1245H5315H635H4436H7200H7451H3615H4428 8Just as the king returned from the palace garden to the banquet hall, Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was reclining. The king exclaimed, "Will he even molest the queen while she is with me in the house?" As soon as the word left the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.H4428H7725H1055H1594H1004H4960H3196H2001H5307H4296H635H559H4428H3533H4436H1004H1697H3318H4428H6310H2645H2001H6440 9Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs attending the king, said, "A gallows seventy-five feet high stands by Haman's house. He had it made for Mordecai, who spoke up to help the king." The king said, "Hang him on it!"H2726H259H5631H559H6440H4428H6086H2572H520H1364H2001H6213H4782H1696H2896H4428H5975H1004H2001H4428H559H8518 10So they hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's fury subsided.H8518H2001H6086H3559H4782H4428H2534H7918
