Exodus 7

Moses Before Pharaoh

7So the LORD said to Moses: "See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.H3068H559H4872H7200H5414H430H6547H175H251H50302"You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land.H1696H6680H175H251H1696H6547H7971H1121H3478H7763"And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.H7185H6547H3820H7235H226H4159H776H47144"But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.H6547H8085H5414H3027H4714H3318H6635H5971H1121H3478H776H4714H1419H82015"And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them."H4714H3045H3068H5186H3027H4714H3318H1121H3478H84326Then Moses and Aaron did so; just as the LORD commanded them, so they did.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H62137And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.H4872H8084H8141H1121H175H8084H7969H8141H1121H1696H6547

Aaron’s Miraculous Rod

8Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,H3068H559H4872H175H5599"When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, 'Show a miracle for yourselves,' then you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.'"H6547H1696H559H5414H4159H559H175H3947H4294H7993H6440H6547H857710So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.H4872H175H935H6547H6213H3068H6680H175H7993H4294H6440H6547H6440H5650H857711But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.H6547H7121H2450H3784H2748H4714H6213H3651H385812For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.H7993H376H4294H8577H175H4294H1104H429413And Pharaoh's heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the LORD had said.H2388H6547H3820H8085H3068H1696

The First Plague: Waters Become Blood

14So the LORD said to Moses: "Pharaoh's heart is hard; he refuses to let the people go.H3068H559H4872H6547H3820H3515H3985H5971H797115"Go to Pharaoh in the morning, when he goes out to the water, and you shall stand by the river's bank to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand.H3212H6547H1242H3318H4325H5324H2975H8193H7125H4294H2015H5175H3947H302716"And you shall say to him, 'The LORD God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness"; but indeed, until now you would not hear!H559H3068H430H5680H7971H559H5971H7971H5647H4057H3541H808517'Thus says the LORD: "By this you shall know that I am the LORD. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood.H559H3068H3045H3068H5221H4294H3027H4325H2975H2015H181818"And the fish that are in the river shall die, the river shall stink, and the Egyptians will loathe to drink the water of the river."'"H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3811H8354H4325H297519Then the LORD spoke to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they may become blood. And there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in buckets of wood and pitchers of stone.'"H3068H559H4872H559H175H3947H4294H5186H3027H4325H4714H5104H2975H98H4723H4325H1818H1818H776H4714H6086H6820And Moses and Aaron did so, just as the LORD commanded. So he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants. And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H7311H4294H5221H4325H2975H5869H6547H5869H5650H4325H2975H2015H181821The fish that were in the river died, the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river. So there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3201H8354H4325H2975H1818H776H471422Then the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments; and Pharaoh's heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the LORD had said.H2748H4714H6213H3909H6547H3820H2388H8085H3068H169623And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. Neither was his heart moved by this.H6547H6437H935H1004H7896H3820H206324So all the Egyptians dug all around the river for water to drink, because they could not drink the water of the river.H4714H2658H5439H2975H4325H8354H3201H8354H4325H297525And seven days passed after the LORD had struck the river.H7651H3117H4390H310H3068H5221H2975

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
