22There was a lull of three years without war between Aram and Israel.H3427H7969H8141H4421H758H34782However, in the third year, Jehoshaphat king of Judah went to visit the king of Israel.H7992H8141H3092H4428H3063H3381H4428H34783The king of Israel had said to his servants, "Don't you know that Ramoth-gilead is ours, but we have failed to take it from the hand of the king of Aram?"H4428H3478H559H5650H3045H7433H1568H2814H3947H3027H4428H7584So he asked Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to fight Ramoth-gilead?" Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."H559H3092H3212H4421H7433H1568H3092H559H4428H3478H3644H5971H5971H5483H54835But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "First, please ask what the LORD's will is."H3092H559H4428H3478H1875H1697H3068H31176So the king of Israel gathered the prophets, about 400 men, and asked them, "Should I go against Ramoth-gilead for war or should I refrain?" They replied, "March up, and the Lord will hand it over to the king."H4428H3478H6908H5030H6908H702H3967H376H559H3212H7433H1568H4421H2308H559H5927H136H5414H3027H44287But Jehoshaphat asked, "Isn't there a prophet of Yahweh here any more? Let's ask him."H3092H559H5030H3068H5750H18758The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man who can ask the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies good about me, but only disaster. He is Micaiah son of Imlah." "The king shouldn't say that!" Jehoshaphat replied.H4428H3478H559H3092H259H376H4321H1121H3229H1875H3068H8130H5012H2896H7451H3092H559H4428H5599So the king of Israel called an officer and said, "Hurry [and get] Micaiah son of Imlah!"H4428H3478H7121H259H5631H559H4116H4321H1121H322910Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, clothed in royal attire, were each sitting on his own throne. They were on the threshing floor at the entrance to Samaria's gate, and all the prophets were prophesying in front of them.H4428H3478H3092H4428H3063H3427H376H3678H3847H899H1637H6607H8179H8111H5030H5012H644011Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah made iron horns and said, "This is what the LORD says: 'You will gore the Arameans with these until they are finished off.'"H6667H1121H3668H6213H7161H1270H559H559H3068H5055H758H361512And all the prophets were prophesying the same: "March up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the LORD will hand it over to the king."H5030H5012H559H5927H7433H1568H6743H3068H5414H4428H302713The messenger who went to call Micaiah instructed him, "Look, the words of the prophets are unanimously favorable for the king. So let your words be like theirs, and speak favorably."H4397H1980H7121H4321H1696H559H1697H5030H2896H4428H259H6310H1697H1697H259H1696H289614But Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, I will say whatever the LORD says to me."H4321H559H3068H2416H3068H559H169615So he went to the king, and the king asked him, "Micaiah, should we go to Ramoth-gilead for war, or should we refrain?" Micaiah told him, "March up and succeed. The LORD will hand it over to the king."H935H4428H4428H559H4321H3212H7433H1568H4421H2308H559H5927H6743H3068H5414H3027H442816But the king said to him, "How many times must I make you swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?"H4428H559H6471H7650H1696H571H8034H306817So Micaiah said: I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, 'They have no master; let everyone return home in peace.'H559H7200H3478H6327H2022H6629H7462H3068H559H113H7725H376H1004H796518So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you he never prophesies good about me, but only disaster?"H4428H3478H559H3092H559H5012H2896H745119Then Micaiah said, "Therefore, hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and the whole heavenly host was standing by Him at His right hand and at His left hand.H559H8085H1697H3068H7200H3068H3427H3678H6635H8064H5975H3225H804020And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab to march up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' So one was saying this and another was saying that.H3068H559H6601H256H5927H5307H7433H1568H559H3541H559H354121"Then a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will entice him.'H3318H7307H5975H6440H3068H559H660122"The LORD asked him, 'How?' "He said, 'I will go and become a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' "Then He said, 'You will certainly entice him and prevail. Go and do that.'H3068H559H559H3318H8267H7307H6310H5030H559H6601H3201H3318H621323"You see, the LORD has put a lying spirit into the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced disaster against you."H3068H5414H8267H7307H6310H5030H3068H1696H745124Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah came up, hit Micaiah in the face, and demanded, "Did the Spirit of the LORD leave me to speak to you?"H6667H1121H3668H5066H5221H4321H3895H559H335H5674H7307H3068H169625Micaiah replied, "You will soon see when you go to hide yourself in an inner chamber on that day."H4321H559H7200H3117H935H2315H2315H224726Then the king of Israel ordered, "Take Micaiah and return him to Amon, the governor of the city, and to Joash, the king's son,H4428H3478H559H3947H4321H7725H526H8269H5892H3101H4428H112127and say, 'This is what the king says: Put this guy in prison and feed him only bread and water until I come back safely.'"H559H559H4428H7760H1004H3608H398H3899H3906H4325H3906H935H796528But Micaiah said, "If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me." Then he said, "Listen, all you people!"H4321H559H7725H7725H7965H3068H1696H559H8085H597129Then the king of Israel and Judah's King Jehoshaphat went up to Ramoth-gilead.H4428H3478H3092H4428H3063H5927H7433H156830But the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your royal attire." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.H4428H3478H559H3092H2664H935H4421H3847H899H4428H3478H2664H935H442131Now the king of Aram had ordered his 32 chariot commanders, "Do not fight with anyone at all except the king of Israel."H4428H758H6680H7970H8147H8269H7393H559H3898H6996H1419H4428H347832When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they shouted, "He must be the king of Israel!" So they turned to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat cried out.H8269H7393H7200H3092H559H4428H3478H5493H3898H3092H219933When the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.H8269H7393H7200H4428H3478H7725H31034But a man drew his bow without taking special aim and struck the king of Israel through the joints of his armor. So he said to his charioteer, "Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am badly wounded!"H376H4900H7198H8537H5221H4428H3478H1694H8302H559H7395H2015H3027H3318H4264H247035The battle raged throughout that day, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. He died that evening, and blood from his wound flowed into the bottom of the chariot.H4421H5927H3117H4428H5975H4818H5227H758H4191H6153H1818H3332H4347H2436H739336Then the cry rang out in the army as the sun set, declaring: Each man to his own city, and each man to his own land!H5674H7440H4264H935H8121H559H376H5892H376H77637So the king died and was brought to Samaria. They buried the king in Samaria.H4428H4191H935H8111H6912H4428H811138Then someone washed the chariot at the pool of Samaria. The dogs licked up his blood, and the prostitutes bathed [in it], according to the word of the LORD that He had spoken.H7857H7393H1295H8111H3611H3952H1818H7364H2185H1697H3068H169639The rest of the events of Ahab's [reign], along with all his accomplishments, the ivory palace he built, and all the cities he built, are written about in the Historical Record of Israel's Kings.H3499H1697H256H6213H8127H1004H1129H5892H1129H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H347840Ahab rested with his fathers, and his son Ahaziah became king in his place.H256H7901H1H274H1121H442741Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king over Judah in the fourth year of Israel's King Ahab.H3092H1121H609H4427H3063H702H8141H256H4428H347842Jehoshaphat was 35 years old when he became king; he reigned 25 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.H3092H7970H2568H8141H1121H4427H4427H6242H2568H8141H3389H517H8034H5806H1323H797743He walked in all the ways of his father Asa; he did not turn away from them but did what was right in the LORD's sight. However, the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.H3212H1870H609H1H5493H6213H3477H5869H3068H1116H5493H5971H2076H6999H111644Jehoshaphat also made peace with the king of Israel.H3092H7999H4428H347845The rest of the events of Jehoshaphat's [reign], along with the might he exercised and how he waged war, are written about in the Historical Record of Judah's Kings.H3499H1697H3092H1369H6213H3898H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H306346He removed from the land the rest of the male shrine prostitutes who were left from the days of his father Asa.H3499H6945H7604H3117H1H609H1197H77647There was no king in Edom; a deputy served as king.H4428H123H5324H442848Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go because the ships were wrecked at Ezion-geber.H3092H6213H6240H591H8659H3212H211H2091H1980H591H7665H610049At that time, Ahaziah son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my servants go with your servants in the ships," but Jehoshaphat was not willing.H559H274H1121H256H3092H5650H3212H5650H591H3092H1450Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of his forefather David. His son Jehoram became king in his place.H3092H7901H1H6912H1H5892H1732H1H3088H1121H442751Ahaziah son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Judah's King Jehoshaphat; he reigned over Israel two years.H274H1121H256H4427H3478H8111H7651H6240H8141H3092H4428H3063H4427H8141H347852He did what was evil in the LORD's sight. He walked in the way of his father, in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin.H6213H7451H5869H3068H3212H1870H1H1870H517H1870H3379H1121H5028H3478H239853He served Baal and worshiped him. He provoked the LORD God of Israel just as his father had done.H5647H1168H7812H3707H3068H430H3478H1H6213
