Your Attitude Toward God

5Guard your steps as you go to the house of God, and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.H8104H7272H3212H1004H430H7138H8085H5414H2077H3684H3045H6213H7451 2Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few.H926H6310H3820H4116H3318H1697H6440H430H430H8064H776H1697H4592 3For the dream comes through much effort, and the voice of a fool through many words.H2472H935H7230H6045H3684H6963H7230H1697 4When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it, for [He takes] no delight in fools. Pay what you vow!H5087H5088H430H309H7999H2656H3684H7999H5087 5It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.H2896H5087H5087H7999 6Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger [of God] that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands?H5414H6310H1320H2398H559H6440H4397H7684H430H7107H6963H2254H4639H3027 7For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.H7230H2472H7235H1697H1892H3372H430 8If you see oppression of the poor and denial of justice and righteousness in the province, do not be shocked at the sight, for one official watches over another official, and there are higher officials over them.H7200H6233H7326H1499H4941H6664H4082H8539H2656H1364H1364H8104H1364H5921 9After all, a king who cultivates the field is an advantage to the land.H3504H776H4428H5647H7704

The Folly of Riches

10He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance [with its] income. This too is vanity.H157H3701H7646H3701H157H1995H8393H1892 11When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look on?H2896H7235H7231H398H3788H1167H518H7207H7212H5869 12The sleep of the working man is pleasant, whether he eats little or much. But the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep.H8142H5647H4966H398H4592H7235H7647H6223H3240H3462 13There is a grievous evil [which] I have seen under the sun: riches being hoarded by their owner to his hurt.H3426H2470H7451H7200H8121H6239H8104H1167H7451 14When those riches were lost through a bad investment and he had fathered a son, then there was nothing to support him.H6239H6H7451H6045H3205H1121H3972H3027 15As he had come naked from his mother's womb, so will he return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.H3318H517H990H6174H7725H3212H935H5375H3972H5999H3212H3027 16And this also is a grievous evil— exactly as a man is born, thus will he die. So, what is the advantage to him who toils for the wind?H2090H2470H7451H5980H935H3212H3504H5998H7307 17Throughout his life [he] also eats in darkness with great vexation, sickness and anger.H3117H398H2822H7235H3707H7110H2483 18Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat, to drink and enjoy oneself in all one's labor in which he toils under the sun [ during] the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward.H7200H2896H3303H398H8354H7200H2896H5999H5998H8121H4557H3117H2416H430H5414H2506 19Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.H120H430H5414H6239H5233H7980H398H5375H2506H8055H5999H2090H4991H430 20For he will not often consider the years of his life, because God keeps him occupied with the gladness of his heart.H7235H2142H3117H2416H430H6031H8057H3820
