The Prophetic Call to Samuel

3NOW THE boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. The word of the Lord was rare {and} precious in those days; there was no frequent {or} widely spread vision.H5288H8050H8334H3068H6440H5941H1697H3068H3368H3117H6555H23772At that time Eli, whose eyesight had dimmed so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place.H3117H5941H7901H4725H5869H2490H3544H3201H72003The lamp of God had not yet gone out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was lying downH5216H430H3518H1964H3068H727H430H8050H79014When the Lord called, Samuel! And he answered, Here I am.H3068H7121H8050H5595He ran to Eli and said, Here I am, for you called me. Eli said, I did not call you; lie down again. So he went and lay down.H7323H5941H559H2009H7121H559H7121H7901H7725H3212H79016And the Lord called again, Samuel! And Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, Here am I; you did call me. Eli answered, I did not call, my son; lie down again.H3068H7121H3254H8050H8050H6965H3212H5941H559H7121H559H7121H1121H7901H77257Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord was not yet revealed to him.H8050H2962H3045H3068H1697H3068H15408And the Lord called Samuel the third time. And he went to Eli and said, Here I am, for you did call me. Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.H3068H7121H8050H3254H7992H6965H3212H5941H559H7121H5941H995H3068H7121H52889So Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down. And if He calls you, you shall say, Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.H5941H559H8050H3212H7901H7121H559H1696H3068H5650H8085H8050H3212H7901H472510And the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, Samuel! Samuel! Then Samuel answered, Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.H3068H935H3320H7121H6471H8050H8050H8050H559H1696H5650H808511The Lord told Samuel, Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which both ears of all who hear it shall tingle.H3068H559H8050H6213H1697H3478H8147H241H8085H675012On that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.H3117H6965H5941H1696H413H1004H2490H361513And I [now] announce to him that I will judge {and} punish his house forever for the iniquity of which he knew, for his sons were bringing a curse upon themselves [blaspheming God], and he did not restrain them.H5046H8199H1004H5704H5769H5771H3045H1121H7043H354314Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be atoned for {or} purged with sacrifice or offering forever.H7650H1004H5941H5771H5941H1004H3722H2077H4503H5704H576915Samuel lay until morning; then he opened the doors of the Lord's house. And [he] was afraid to tell the vision to Eli.H8050H7901H1242H6605H1817H1004H3068H8050H3372H5046H5941H475916But Eli called Samuel and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here I am.H5941H7121H8050H559H8050H1121H55917Eli said, What is it He told you? Pray do not hide it from me. May God do so to you, and more also, if you hide anything from me of all that He said to you.H559H1697H1696H3582H430H6213H3254H3582H1697H1697H169618And Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing. And Eli said, It is the Lord; let Him do what seems good to Him.H8050H5046H1697H3582H559H3068H6213H5869H289619Samuel grew; the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.H8050H1431H3068H1697H5307H77620And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the Lord.H3478H1835H884H3045H8050H539H5030H306821And the Lord continued to appear in Shiloh, for the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh through the word of the Lord.H3068H7200H3254H7887H3068H1540H8050H7887H1697H3068
