God’s Promise and Warning

9WHEN SOLOMON finished the building of the Lord's house and the king's house, and all he desired and was pleased to do,H8010H3615H1129H1004H3068H4428H1004H8010H2837H2654H62132The Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as He had appeared to him at Gibeon.H3068H7200H8010H8145H7200H13913The Lord told him, I have heard your prayer and supplication which you have made before Me; I have hallowed this house which you have built, and I have put My Name [and My Presence] there forever. My eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.H3068H559H8085H8605H8467H2603H6440H6942H1004H1129H7760H8034H5704H5769H5869H3820H31174And if you will walk before Me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, keeping My statutes and My precepts,H3212H6440H1732H1H1980H8537H3824H3476H6213H6680H8104H2706H49415Then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, There shall not fail you [to have] a man upon the throne of Israel.H6965H3678H4467H3478H5769H1696H1732H1H559H3772H376H3678H34786But if you turn away from following Me, you or your children, and will not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have set before you but go and serve other gods and worship them,H7725H7725H310H1121H8104H4687H2708H5414H6440H1980H5647H312H430H78127Then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them, and this house I have hallowed for My Name (renown) I will cast from My sight. And Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all the peoples.H3772H3478H6440H127H5414H1004H6942H8034H7971H6440H3478H4912H8148H59718This house shall become a heap of ruins; every passerby shall be astonished and shall hiss [with surprise] and say, Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?H1004H5945H5674H8074H8319H559H3068H6213H776H10049Then they will answer, Because they forsook the Lord their God, Who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have laid hold of other gods and have worshiped and served them; therefore the Lord has brought on them all this evil.H559H5800H3068H430H3318H1H776H4714H2388H312H430H7812H5647H3068H935H7451

Cities Given to Hiram

10At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the Lord's house and the king's house,H7097H6242H8141H8010H1129H8147H1004H1004H3068H4428H100411For which Hiram king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with as much cedar and cypress timber and gold as he desired, King Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.H2438H4428H6865H5375H8010H730H6086H1265H6086H2091H2656H227H4428H8010H5414H2438H6242H5892H776H155112And Hiram came from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him, and they did not please him.H2438H3318H6865H7200H5892H8010H5414H3474H586913He said, What are these cities worth which you have given me, my brother? So they are called the Cabul [unproductive] Land to this day.H559H5892H5414H251H7121H776H3521H311714And Hiram sent to the king 120 talents of gold.H2438H7971H4428H3967H6242H3603H209115This is the account of the levy [of forced labor] which King Solomon raised to build the house of the Lord, his own house, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.H1697H4522H4428H8010H5927H1129H1004H3068H1004H4407H2346H3389H2674H4023H150716For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and taken Gezer, burned it with fire, slew the Canaanites who dwelt in the city, and had given it as dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife.H6547H4428H4714H5927H3920H1507H8313H784H2026H3669H3427H5892H5414H7964H1323H8010H80217So Solomon rebuilt Gezer and Lower Beth-horon,H8010H1129H1507H1032H848118Baalath and Tamar (Tadmor) in the wilderness, in the land of Judah,H1191H8412H4057H77619And all the store cities which Solomon had and cities for his chariots and cities for his horsemen, and whatever Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.H5892H4543H8010H5892H7393H5892H6571H2837H8010H2836H1129H3389H3844H776H447520As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not Israelites,H5971H3498H567H2850H6522H2340H2983H1121H347821Their children who were left after them in the land, whom the Israelites were not able utterly to destroy, of them Solomon made a forced levy of slaves to this day.H1121H3498H310H776H1121H3478H3201H2763H8010H5927H4522H5647H311722But Solomon made no slaves of the Israelites; they were the soldiers, his officials, attendants, commanders, captains, chariot officers, and horsemen.H1121H3478H8010H5414H5650H582H4421H5650H8269H7991H8269H7393H657123These were the chief officers over Solomon's work, 550 who had charge of the people who did the work.H8269H5324H8010H4399H2568H3967H2572H7287H5971H6213H439924But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the City of David to her house which Solomon had built for her; then he built the Millo.H6547H1323H5927H5892H1732H1004H1129H1129H440725Three times a year Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar he built to the Lord, and he burned incense with them before the Lord. So he finished the house.H7969H6471H8141H8010H5927H5930H8002H4196H1129H3068H6999H4196H6440H3068H7999H100426And King Solomon made a fleet of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in Edom.H4428H8010H6213H590H6100H359H8193H5488H3220H776H12327And Hiram sent with the fleet his servants, shipmen who had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.H2438H7971H590H5650H582H591H3045H3220H5650H801028They came to Ophir and got 420 talents of gold and brought it to King Solomon.H935H211H3947H2091H702H3967H6242H3603H935H4428H8010

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
