Elijah Ascends to Heaven

2And it came to pass, when the LORD was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.H3068H5927H452H8064H5591H452H3212H477H15372Then Elijah said to Elisha, "Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to Bethel." But Elisha said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So they went down to Bethel.H452H559H477H3427H3068H7971H1008H477H559H3068H2416H5315H2416H5800H3381H10083Now the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?" And he said, "Yes, I know; keep silent!"H1121H5030H1008H3318H477H559H3045H3068H3947H113H7218H3117H559H3045H28144Then Elijah said to him, "Elisha, stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to Jericho." But he said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So they came to Jericho.H452H559H477H3427H3068H7971H3405H559H3068H2416H5315H2416H5800H935H34055Now the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?" So he answered, "Yes, I know; keep silent!"H1121H5030H3405H5066H477H559H3045H3068H3947H113H7218H3117H559H3045H28146Then Elijah said to him, "Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan." But he said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So the two of them went on.H452H559H3427H3068H7971H3383H559H3068H2416H5315H2416H5800H8147H32127And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing them at a distance, while the two of them stood by the Jordan.H2572H376H1121H5030H1980H5975H5048H7350H8147H5975H33838Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.H452H3947H155H1563H5221H4325H2673H8147H5674H27249And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?" Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me."H5674H452H559H477H7592H6213H3947H477H559H8147H6310H730710So he said, "You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so."H559H7592H7185H7200H394711Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.H1980H1980H1696H7393H784H5483H784H6504H8147H996H452H5927H5591H806412And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, "My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!" So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.H477H7200H6817H1H1H7393H3478H6571H7200H2388H899H7167H8147H716813He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.H7311H155H452H5307H7725H5975H8193H338314Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, "Where is the LORD God of Elijah?" And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.H3947H155H452H5307H5221H4325H559H3068H430H452H5221H4325H2673H477H567415Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, "The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha." And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.H1121H5030H3405H7200H559H7307H452H5117H477H935H7125H7812H77616Then they said to him, "Look now, there are fifty strong men with your servants. Please let them go and search for your master, lest perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and cast him upon some mountain or into some valley." And he said, "You shall not send anyone."H559H3426H5650H2572H2428H1121H582H3212H1245H113H7307H3068H5375H7993H259H2022H259H1516H559H797117But when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, "Send them!" Therefore they sent fifty men, and they searched for three days but did not find him.H6484H954H559H7971H7971H2572H376H1245H7969H3117H467218And when they came back to him, for he had stayed in Jericho, he said to them, "Did I not say to you, 'Do not go'?"H7725H3427H3405H559H559H3212

Elisha Performs Miracles

19Then the men of the city said to Elisha, "Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren."H582H5892H559H477H4186H5892H2896H113H7200H4325H7451H776H792120And he said, "Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it." So they brought it to him.H559H3947H2319H6746H7760H4417H394721Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.'"H3318H4161H4325H7993H4417H559H559H3068H7495H4325H4194H792122So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.H4325H7495H3117H1697H477H169623Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!"H5927H1008H5927H1870H3318H6996H5288H5892H7046H559H5927H7142H5927H714224So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.H6437H310H7200H7043H8034H3068H3318H8147H1677H3293H1234H705H8147H320625Then he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.H3212H2022H3760H7725H8111

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
