Daniel 10
New International Version (1984) Help
10In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel (who was called Belteshazzar). Its message was true and it concerned a great war. The understanding of the message came to him in a vision.H7969H8141H3566H4428H6539H1697H1540H1840H8034H7121H1095H1697H571H6635H1419H995H1697H998H47582At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks.H3117H1840H56H7969H3117H76203I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.H398H2532H3899H935H1320H3196H6310H5480H5480H7969H3117H7620H43904On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris,H702H6242H3117H7223H2320H3027H1419H5104H23135I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of the finest gold around his waist.H5375H5869H7200H259H376H3847H906H4975H2296H3800H2106His body was like chrysolite, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.H1472H8658H6440H4758H1300H5869H3940H784H2220H4772H5869H7044H5178H6963H1697H6963H19957I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; the men with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves.H1840H7200H4759H582H7200H4759H61H1419H2731H5307H1272H22448So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless.H7604H7200H1419H4759H7604H3581H1935H2015H4889H6113H35819Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.H8085H6963H1697H8085H6963H1697H7290H6440H6440H77610A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.H3027H5060H5128H1290H3709H302711He said, "Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you." And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.H559H1840H376H2532H995H1697H1696H5975H5977H7971H1696H1697H5975H746012Then he continued, "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.H559H3372H1840H7223H3117H5414H3820H995H6031H6440H430H1697H8085H935H169713But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.H8269H4438H6539H5975H259H6242H3117H4317H259H7223H8269H935H5826H3498H681H4428H653914Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come."H935H995H7136H5971H319H3117H2377H311715While he was saying this to me, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless.H1696H1697H5414H6440H776H48116Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing before me, "I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my lord, and I am helpless.H1823H1121H120H5060H8193H6605H6310H1696H559H5975H113H4759H6735H2015H6113H358117How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe."H1963H3201H5650H113H1696H113H6258H5975H3581H5397H760418Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength.H3254H5060H4758H120H238819"Do not be afraid, O man highly esteemed," he said. "Peace! Be strong now; be strong." When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, "Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength."H559H376H2532H3372H7965H2388H2388H1696H2388H559H113H1696H238820So he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come;H559H3045H935H7725H3898H8269H6539H3318H8269H3120H93521but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince.H61H5046H7559H3791H571H259H2388H4317H8269
