Deuteronomy 18

18The Levitical priests—indeed, the whole tribe of Levi—are to have no allotment or inheritance with Israel. They shall live on the food offerings presented to the LORD, for that is their inheritance.H3548H3881H7626H3878H2506H5159H3478H398H801H3068H801H51592They shall have no inheritance among their fellow Israelites; the LORD is their inheritance, as he promised them.H5159H7130H251H3068H5159H16963This is the share due the priests from the people who sacrifice a bull or a sheep: the shoulder, the jowls and the internal organs.H3548H4941H5971H2076H2077H7794H7716H5414H3548H2220H3895H68964You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the first wool from the shearing of your sheep,H7225H1715H8492H3323H7225H1488H6629H54145for the LORD your God has chosen them and their descendants out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the LORD's name always.H3068H430H977H7626H5975H8334H8034H3068H1121H31176If a Levite moves from one of your towns anywhere in Israel where he is living, and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose,H3881H935H259H8179H3478H1481H935H185H5315H4725H3068H9777he may minister in the name of the LORD his God like all other Levites who serve there in the presence of the LORD.H8334H8034H3068H430H251H3881H5975H6440H30688He is to share equally in their benefits, even though he has received money from the sale of family possessions.H2506H398H4465H19When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.H935H776H3068H430H5414H3925H6213H8441H147110Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,H4672H1121H1323H5674H784H7080H7081H6049H5172H378411or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.H2266H2267H7592H178H3049H1875H419112Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you.H6213H8441H3068H1558H8441H3068H430H3423H644013You must be blameless before the LORD your God.H8549H3068H43014The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.H1471H3423H8085H6049H7080H3068H430H541415The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your own people. You must listen to him.H3068H430H6965H5030H7130H251H808516For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, "Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die."H7592H3068H430H2722H3117H6951H559H8085H3254H6963H3068H430H7200H1419H784H419117The LORD said to me: "What they say is good.H3068H559H3190H169618I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their people, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him.H6965H5030H7130H251H5414H1697H6310H1696H668019I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.H376H8085H1697H1696H8034H187520But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death."H5030H2102H1696H1697H8034H6680H1696H1696H8034H312H430H5030H419121You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?"H559H3824H3045H1697H3068H169622If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. No one should be alarmed.H5030H1696H8034H3068H1697H935H1697H3068H1696H5030H1696H2087H1481

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
