God Appoints Aaron to Assist Moses

7The Lord said to Moses, "Listen! I've put you in the role of God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.H3068H559H4872H7200H5414H430H6547H175H251H5030 2You are to speak all that I've commanded you, and then your brother Aaron will speak to Pharaoh, telling him to let the Israelites go out of his land.H1696H6680H175H251H1696H6547H7971H1121H3478H776 3I'll harden Pharaoh's heart and I'll add more and more of my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.H7185H6547H3820H7235H226H4159H776H4714 4When Pharaoh won't listen to you, I'll let loose my power upon Egypt. I'll bring out my tribal divisions - my people the Israelites - from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.H6547H8085H5414H3027H4714H3318H6635H5971H1121H3478H776H4714H1419H8201 5The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand over Egypt to bring the Israelites out from among them."H4714H3045H3068H5186H3027H4714H3318H1121H3478H8432 6Moses and Aaron did what the Lord commanded them.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H6213 7Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83 when they spoke to Pharaoh.H4872H8084H8141H1121H175H8084H7969H8141H1121H1696H6547

Moses’ Staff Becomes a Snake

8Then the Lord said to Moses and to Aaron,H3068H559H4872H175H559 9"When Pharaoh says to you, 'Perform a miraculous sign,' then you are to say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and throw it in front of Pharaoh.' It will become a serpent."H6547H1696H559H5414H4159H559H175H3947H4294H7993H6440H6547H8577 10Then Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did what the Lord had commanded them. Aaron threw his staff in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.H4872H175H935H6547H6213H3068H6680H175H7993H4294H6440H6547H6440H5650H8577 11Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and sorcerers, and they - along with the Egyptian magicians - did the same thing with their secret arts.H6547H7121H2450H3784H2748H4714H6213H3651H3858 12So each one threw down his staff and it became a serpent, but Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.H7993H376H4294H8577H175H4294H1104H4294 13Yet Pharaoh's heart was stubborn and he did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said would happen.H2388H6547H3820H8085H3068H1696

Water is Turned into Blood

14Then the Lord said to Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is hard. He has refused to let the people go.H3068H559H4872H6547H3820H3515H3985H5971H7971 15Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he's going down to the water. Stand on the bank of the Nile and meet him. Be sure to take with you the staff that was turned into a snake.H3212H6547H1242H3318H4325H5324H2975H8193H7125H4294H2015H5175H3947H3027 16Then say to him, 'The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you. He says, "Let my people go so they may serve me in the desert, but until now you haven't obeyed.H559H3068H430H5680H7971H559H5971H7971H5647H4057H3541H8085 17'This is what the Lord says: "By this you will know that I am the Lord: Right now I'm going to strike the water of the Nile with the staff that's in my hand, and it will be turned to blood.H559H3068H3045H3068H5221H4294H3027H4325H2975H2015H1818 18The fish in the Nile will die and the river will stink. The Egyptians will be unable to drink water from the Nile."'"'"H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3811H8354H4325H2975 19The Lord also told Moses, "Tell Aaron, 'Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their Nile, over their ponds, and over their reservoirs, and they'll become blood. There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in their wood and stone containers.'"H3068H559H4872H559H175H3947H4294H5186H3027H4325H4714H5104H2975H98H4723H4325H1818H1818H776H4714H6086H68 20Moses and Aaron did just what the Lord had commanded. Aaron raised his staff and struck the water in the Nile in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and all the water in the Nile turned to blood.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H7311H4294H5221H4325H2975H5869H6547H5869H5650H4325H2975H2015H1818 21The fish in the Nile died and the river stank. The Egyptians were not able to drink water from the Nile, and blood was throughout the land of Egypt.H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3201H8354H4325H2975H1818H776H4714 22But the Egyptian magicians did the same thing with their secret arts. Pharaoh's heart was stubborn, and he did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.H2748H4714H6213H3909H6547H3820H2388H8085H3068H1696 23Then Pharaoh turned away, went to his palace, and paid no attention to any of this.H6547H6437H935H1004H7896H3820H2063 24All the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink because they could not drink from the water in the Nile.24H4714H2658H5439H2975H4325H8354H3201H8354H4325H2975
