Moses Before Pharaoh

7So the LORD said to Moses: "See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.H3068H559H4872H7200H5414H430H6547H175H251H5030 2"You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land.H1696H6680H175H251H1696H6547H7971H1121H3478H776 3"And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.H7185H6547H3820H7235H226H4159H776H4714 4"But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.H6547H8085H5414H3027H4714H3318H6635H5971H1121H3478H776H4714H1419H8201 5"And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them."H4714H3045H3068H5186H3027H4714H3318H1121H3478H8432 6Then Moses and Aaron did so; just as the LORD commanded them, so they did.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H6213 7And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.H4872H8084H8141H1121H175H8084H7969H8141H1121H1696H6547

Aaron’s Miraculous Rod

8Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,H3068H559H4872H175H559 9"When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, 'Show a miracle for yourselves,' then you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.'"H6547H1696H559H5414H4159H559H175H3947H4294H7993H6440H6547H8577 10So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the LORD commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.H4872H175H935H6547H6213H3068H6680H175H7993H4294H6440H6547H6440H5650H8577 11But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.H6547H7121H2450H3784H2748H4714H6213H3651H3858 12For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.H7993H376H4294H8577H175H4294H1104H4294 13And Pharaoh's heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the LORD had said.H2388H6547H3820H8085H3068H1696

The First Plague: Waters Become Blood

14So the LORD said to Moses: "Pharaoh's heart is hard; he refuses to let the people go.H3068H559H4872H6547H3820H3515H3985H5971H7971 15"Go to Pharaoh in the morning, when he goes out to the water, and you shall stand by the river's bank to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand.H3212H6547H1242H3318H4325H5324H2975H8193H7125H4294H2015H5175H3947H3027 16"And you shall say to him, 'The LORD God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness"; but indeed, until now you would not hear!H559H3068H430H5680H7971H559H5971H7971H5647H4057H3541H8085 17'Thus says the LORD: "By this you shall know that I am the LORD. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood.H559H3068H3045H3068H5221H4294H3027H4325H2975H2015H1818 18"And the fish that are in the river shall die, the river shall stink, and the Egyptians will loathe to drink the water of the river."'"H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3811H8354H4325H2975 19Then the LORD spoke to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they may become blood. And there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in buckets of wood and pitchers of stone.'"H3068H559H4872H559H175H3947H4294H5186H3027H4325H4714H5104H2975H98H4723H4325H1818H1818H776H4714H6086H68 20And Moses and Aaron did so, just as the LORD commanded. So he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants. And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H7311H4294H5221H4325H2975H5869H6547H5869H5650H4325H2975H2015H1818 21The fish that were in the river died, the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river. So there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3201H8354H4325H2975H1818H776H4714 22Then the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments; and Pharaoh's heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the LORD had said.H2748H4714H6213H3909H6547H3820H2388H8085H3068H1696 23And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. Neither was his heart moved by this.H6547H6437H935H1004H7896H3820H2063 24So all the Egyptians dug all around the river for water to drink, because they could not drink the water of the river.H4714H2658H5439H2975H4325H8354H3201H8354H4325H2975 25And seven days passed after the LORD had struck the river.H7651H3117H4390H310H3068H5221H2975
