Servants for the Temple

15Now I gathered them by the river that flows to Ahava, and we camped there three days. And I looked among the people and the priests, and found none of the sons of Levi there.H6908H5104H935H163H2583H7969H3117H995H5971H3548H4672H1121H387816Then I sent for Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, leaders; also for Joiarib and Elnathan, men of understanding.H7971H461H740H8098H494H3402H494H5416H2148H4918H7218H3114H494H99517And I gave them a command for Iddo the chief man at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say to Iddo and his brethren the Nethinim at the place Casiphia—that they should bring us servants for the house of our God.H6680H3318H112H7218H4725H3703H7760H6310H1697H1696H112H251H5411H5411H4725H3703H935H8334H1004H43018Then, by the good hand of our God upon us, they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli the son of Levi, the son of Israel, namely Sherebiah, with his sons and brothers, eighteen men;H2896H3027H430H935H376H7922H1121H4249H1121H3878H1121H3478H8274H1121H251H8083H624019and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty men;H2811H3470H1121H4847H251H1121H624220also of the Nethinim, whom David and the leaders had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim. Fasting and Prayer for Protection

21Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.H7121H6685H5104H163H6031H6440H430H1245H3477H1870H2945H739922For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, "The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him."H954H7592H4428H2428H6571H5826H341H1870H559H4428H559H3027H430H2896H1245H5797H639H580023So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.H6684H1245H430H6279

Gifts for the Temple

24And I separated twelve of the leaders of the priests—Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them—H914H8147H6240H8269H3548H8274H2811H6235H25125and weighed out to them the silver, the gold, and the articles, the offering for the house of our God which the king and his counselors and his princes, and all Israel who were present, had offered.H8254H3701H2091H3627H8641H1004H430H4428H3289H8269H3478H4672H731126I weighed into their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, silver articles weighing one hundred talents, one hundred talents of gold,H8254H3027H8337H3967H2572H3603H3701H3701H3627H3967H3603H2091H3967H360327twenty gold basins worth a thousand drachmas, and two vessels of fine polished bronze, precious as gold.H6242H3713H2091H505H150H8147H3627H2896H6668H5178H2532H209128And I said to them, "You are holy to the LORD; the articles are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to the LORD God of your fathers.H559H6944H3068H3627H6944H3701H2091H5071H3068H430H129"Watch and keep them until you weigh them before the leaders of the priests and the Levites and heads of the fathers' houses of Israel in Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD."H8245H8104H8254H6440H8269H3548H3881H8269H1H3478H3389H3957H1004H306830So the priests and the Levites received the silver and the gold and the articles by weight, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God.H6901H3548H3881H4948H3701H2091H3627H935H3389H1004H430

The Return to Jerusalem

31Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. And the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the road.H5265H5104H163H8147H6240H7223H2320H3212H3389H3027H430H5337H3709H341H693H187032So we came to Jerusalem, and stayed there three days.H935H3389H3427H7969H311733Now on the fourth day the silver and the gold and the articles were weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest, and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; with them were the Levites, Jozabad the son of Jeshua and Noadiah the son of Binnui,H7243H3117H3701H2091H3627H8254H1004H430H3027H4822H1121H223H3548H499H1121H6372H3107H1121H3442H5129H1121H1131H388134with the number and weight of everything. All the weight was written down at that time.H4557H4948H4948H3789H625635The children of those who had been carried away captive, who had come from the captivity, offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel: twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve male goats as a sin offering. All this was a burnt offering to the LORD.H1121H1473H935H7628H7126H5930H430H3478H8147H6240H6499H3478H8673H8337H352H7657H7651H3532H8147H6240H6842H2403H5930H306836And they delivered the king's orders to the king's satraps and the governors in the region beyond the River. So they gave support to the people and the house of God.H5414H4428H1881H4428H323H6346H5676H5104H5375H5971H1004H430

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
