The Garden of Eden

2Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.H8064H776H3615H66352And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.H7637H3117H430H3615H4399H6213H7673H7637H3117H4399H62133Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.H430H1288H7637H3117H6942H3588H7673H4399H430H1254H62134This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,H428H8435H8064H776H1254H3117H3068H430H6213H776H80645before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground;H7880H7704H2962H776H6212H7704H2962H6779H3588H3068H430H3808H4305H776H369H120H5647H1276but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.H5927H108H4480H776H8248H6440H1277And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.H3068H430H3335H120H6083H4480H127H5301H639H5397H2416H120H2416H5315

Life in God’s Garden

8The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.H3068H430H5193H1588H6924H5731H8033H7760H120H834H33359And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.H4480H127H6779H3068H430H6779H6086H2530H4758H2896H3978H6086H2416H8432H1588H6086H1847H2896H745110Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads.H5104H3318H5731H8248H1588H6504H702H721811The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.H8034H259H6376H1931H5437H776H2341H834H209112And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there.H2091H1931H776H2896H916H7718H6813The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush.H8034H8145H5104H1521H5437H776H356814The name of the third river is Hiddekel; it is the one which goes toward the east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.H8034H7992H5104H2313H1980H6926H804H7243H5104H657815Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.H3068H430H3947H120H3240H1588H5731H5647H810416And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;H3068H430H6680H120H559H6086H1588H398H39817"but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."H6086H1847H2896H7451H398H3117H398H4191H419118And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him."H3068H430H559H2896H120H1961H6213H582819Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.H127H3068H430H3335H2416H7704H5775H8064H935H120H7200H7121H120H7121H2416H5315H1931H803420So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.H120H7121H8034H929H5775H8064H2416H7704H120H4672H582821And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.H3068H430H5307H8639H5307H121H3462H3947H259H6763H5462H132022Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.H6763H3068H430H3947H120H1129H802H935H12023And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man."H120H559H2063H6471H6106H6106H1320H1320H2063H7121H802H2063H3947H37624Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.H3651H376H5800H1H517H1692H802H259H132025And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.H8147H6174H120H802H954
