Genesis 30

30When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she envied her sister. She said to Jacob, "Give me children, or I shall die!"H7354H7200H3205H3290H7354H7065H269H559H3290H3051H1121H369H41912Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel, and he said, "Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?"H3290H639H2734H7354H559H430H4513H6529H9903Then she said, "Here is my servant Bilhah; go in to her, so that she may give birth on my behalf, that even I may have children through her."H559H519H1090H935H3205H1290H11294So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob went in to her.H5414H1090H8198H802H3290H9355And Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son.H1090H2029H3205H3290H11216Then Rachel said, "God has judged me, and has also heard my voice and given me a son." Therefore she called his name Dan.H7354H559H430H1777H8085H6963H5414H1121H7121H8034H18357Rachel's servant Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.H1090H7354H8198H2029H3205H3290H8145H11218Then Rachel said, "With mighty wrestlings I have wrestled with my sister and have prevailed." So she called his name Naphtali.H7354H559H430H5319H6617H269H3201H7121H8034H53219When Leah saw that she had ceased bearing children, she took her servant Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife.H3812H7200H5975H3205H3947H2153H8198H5414H3290H80210Then Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son.H2153H3812H8198H3205H3290H112111And Leah said, "Good fortune has come!" so she called his name Gad.H3812H559H1409H935H7121H8034H141012Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son.H2153H3812H8198H3205H3290H8145H112113And Leah said, "Happy am I! For women have called me happy." So she called his name Asher.H3812H559H837H1323H833H7121H8034H83614In the days of wheat harvest Reuben went and found mandrakes in the field and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, "Please give me some of your son's mandrakes."H7205H3212H3117H2406H7105H4672H1736H7704H935H517H3812H7354H559H3812H5414H1121H173615But she said to her, "Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son's mandrakes also?" Rachel said, "Then he may lie with you tonight in exchange for your son's mandrakes."H559H4592H3947H376H3947H1121H1736H7354H559H7901H3915H8478H1121H173616When Jacob came from the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, "You must come in to me, for I have hired you with my son's mandrakes." So he lay with her that night.H3290H935H7704H6153H3812H3318H7125H559H935H7936H7936H1121H1736H7901H391517And God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son.H430H8085H3812H2029H3205H3290H2549H112118Leah said, "God has given me my wages because I gave my servant to my husband." So she called his name Issachar.H3812H559H430H5414H7939H834H5414H8198H376H7121H8034H348519And Leah conceived again, and she bore Jacob a sixth son.H3812H2029H3205H3290H8345H112120Then Leah said, "God has endowed me with a good endowment; now my husband will honor me, because I have borne him six sons." So she called his name Zebulun.H3812H559H430H2064H2896H2065H6471H376H2082H3205H8337H1121H7121H8034H207421Afterward she bore a daughter and called her name Dinah.H310H3205H1323H7121H8034H178322Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.H430H2142H7354H430H8085H6605H735823She conceived and bore a son and said, "God has taken away my reproach."H2029H3205H1121H559H430H622H278124And she called his name Joseph, saying, "May the LORD add to me another son!"H7121H8034H3130H559H3068H3254H312H1121

Jacob’s Prosperity

25As soon as Rachel had borne Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, "Send me away, that I may go to my own home and country.H7354H3205H3130H3290H559H3837H7971H3212H4725H77626Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, that I may go, for you know the service that I have given you."H5414H802H3206H2004H5647H3212H3045H5656H564727But Laban said to him, "If I have found favor in your sight, I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.H3837H559H4672H2580H5869H5172H3068H1288H155828Name your wages, and I will give it."H559H5344H7939H541429Jacob said to him, "You yourself know how I have served you, and how your livestock has fared with me.H559H3045H834H5647H834H473530For you had little before I came, and it has increased abundantly, and the LORD has blessed you wherever I turned. But now when shall I provide for my own household also?"H4592H6440H6555H7230H3068H1288H7272H4970H6213H100431He said, "What shall I give you?" Jacob said, "You shall not give me anything. If you will do this for me, I will again pasture your flock and keep it:H559H5414H3290H559H5414H3972H6213H1697H7725H7462H8104H662932let me pass through all your flock today, removing from it every speckled and spotted sheep and every black lamb, and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and they shall be my wages.H5674H6629H3117H5493H5348H2921H7716H2345H7716H3775H2921H5348H5795H793933So my honesty will answer for me later, when you come to look into my wages with you. Every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats and black among the lambs, if found with me, shall be counted stolen."H6666H6030H3117H4279H935H7939H6440H3605H5348H2921H5795H2345H3775H158934Laban said, "Good! Let it be as you have said."H3837H559H3863H169735But that day Laban removed the male goats that were striped and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white on it, and every lamb that was black, and put them in the charge of his sons.H5493H3117H8495H6124H2921H5795H5348H2921H3836H2345H3775H5414H3027H112136And he set a distance of three days' journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob pastured the rest of Laban's flock.H7760H7969H3117H1870H3290H3290H7462H3498H3837H662937Then Jacob took fresh sticks of poplar and almond and plane trees, and peeled white streaks in them, exposing the white of the sticks.H3290H3947H4731H3892H3839H3869H6196H6478H3836H6479H3836H4286H473138He set the sticks that he had peeled in front of the flocks in the troughs, that is, the watering places, where the flocks came to drink. And since they bred when they came to drink,H3322H4731H6478H5227H6629H7298H4325H8268H6629H935H8354H3179H935H835439the flocks bred in front of the sticks and so the flocks brought forth striped, speckled, and spotted.H6629H3179H4731H3205H6629H6124H5348H292140And Jacob separated the lambs and set the faces of the flocks toward the striped and all the black in the flock of Laban. He put his own droves apart and did not put them with Laban's flock.H3290H6504H3775H5414H6440H6629H413H6124H2345H6629H3837H7896H5739H7896H3837H662941Whenever the stronger of the flock were breeding, Jacob would lay the sticks in the troughs before the eyes of the flock, that they might breed among the sticks,H7194H6629H3179H3290H7760H4731H5869H6629H7298H3179H473142but for the feebler of the flock he would not lay them there. So the feebler would be Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.H6629H5848H7760H5848H3837H7194H329043Thus the man increased greatly and had large flocks, female servants and male servants, and camels and donkeys.H376H6555H3966H3966H7227H6629H8198H5650H1581H2543

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
