Cain and Abel

4Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, "I have gotten a manchild with [the help of] the LORD."H120H3045H853H2332H802H2029H3205H853H7014H559H7069H376H854H30682And again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.H3254H3205H251H1893H1893H7462H6629H7014H5647H1273So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground.H7093H3117H7014H935H6529H127H4503H30684And Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering;H1893H1931H935H1062H6629H2459H3068H8159H1893H45035but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell.H7014H4503H8159H7014H3966H2734H6440H53076Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?H3068H559H7014H2734H6440H53077"If you do well, will not [your countenance] be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it."H518H3190H7613H3190H2403H7257H6607H8669H49108And Cain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.H7014H559H413H1893H251H7704H7014H6965H413H1893H251H20269Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" And he said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?"H3068H559H7014H335H1893H251H559H3045H251H810410And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to Me from the ground.H559H4100H6213H6963H251H1818H6817H12711"And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.H779H127H6475H6310H3947H251H1818H302712"When you cultivate the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you; you shall be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth."H3588H5647H127H3254H5414H3581H5128H5110H77613And Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is too great to bear!H7014H559H3068H5771H1419H537514"Behold, Thou hast driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from Thy face I shall be hidden, and I shall be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and it will come about that whoever finds me will kill me."H1644H3117H6440H127H5921H6440H5641H5128H5110H776H1961H4672H202615So the LORD said to him, "Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD appointed a sign for Cain, lest anyone finding him should slay him.H3068H559H3651H2026H7014H5358H7659H3068H7760H226H7014H1115H4672H522116Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.H7014H3318H6440H3068H3427H776H5113H6926H573117And Cain had relations with his wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch; and he built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after the name of his son.H7014H3045H802H2029H3205H2585H1129H5892H7121H8034H5892H8034H1121H258518Now to Enoch was born Irad; and Irad became the father of Mehujael; and Mehujael became the father of Methushael; and Methushael became the father of Lamech.H2585H3205H5897H5897H3205H4232H4232H3205H4967H4967H3205H392919And Lamech took to himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other, Zillah.H3929H3947H8147H802H8034H259H5711H8034H8145H674120And Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and [have] livestock.H5711H3205H2989H1H3427H168H473521And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.H251H8034H3106H1H8610H3658H574822As for Zillah, she also gave birth to Tubal-cain, the forger of all implements of bronze and iron; and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.H6741H3205H8423H3913H2794H5178H1270H269H8423H527923And Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, Listen to my voice, You wives of Lamech, Give heed to my speech, For I have killed a man for wounding me; And a boy for striking me;H3929H559H802H5711H6741H8085H6963H802H3929H238H565H2026H376H6482H3206H225024If Cain is avenged sevenfold, Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold. "H3588H7014H5358H7659H3929H7657H765125And Adam had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, for, [she said,] "God has appointed me another offspring in place of Abel; for Cain killed him."H120H3045H802H5750H3205H1121H7121H8034H8352H430H7896H312H2233H8478H1893H3588H7014H202626And to Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then [men] began to call upon the name of the LORD.H8352H1931H3205H1121H7121H8034H583H2490H7121H8034H3068
