Ephraim Punished

9Do not rejoice, O Israel, with exultation like the nations! For you have played the harlot, forsaking your God. You have loved [harlots '] earnings on every threshing floor.H8055H3478H1524H5971H2181H430H157H868H1637H1715 2Threshing floor and wine press will not feed them, And the new wine will fail them.H1637H3342H7462H8492H3584 3They will not remain in the Lord's land, But Ephraim will return to Egypt, And in Assyria they will eat unclean [food.]H3427H3068H776H669H7725H4714H398H2931H804 4They will not pour out libations of wine to the LORD, Their sacrifices will not please Him. [Their bread will be] like mourners' bread; All who eat of it will be defiled, For their bread will be for themselves [alone]; It will not enter the house of the LORD.H5258H3196H3068H6149H2077H3899H205H398H2930H3899H5315H935H1004H3068 5What will you do on the day of the appointed festival And on the day of the feast of the LORD?H6213H4150H3117H3117H2282H3068 6For behold, they will go because of destruction; Egypt will gather them up, Memphis will bury them. Weeds will take over their treasures of silver; Thorns [will be] in their tents.H1980H7701H4714H6908H4644H6912H4261H3701H7057H3423H2336H168 7The days of punishment have come, The days of retribution have come; Let Israel know [this]! The prophet is a fool, The inspired man is demented, Because of the grossness of your iniquity, And [because] your hostility is [so] great.H3117H6486H935H3117H7966H935H3478H3045H5030H191H7307H376H7696H7230H5771H7227H4895 8Ephraim [was] a watchman with my God, a prophet; [Yet] the snare of a bird catcher is in all his ways, [And] there is [only] hostility in the house of his God.H6822H669H430H5030H6341H3352H1870H4895H1004H430 9They have gone deep in depravity As in the days of Gibeah; He will remember their iniquity, He will punish their sins.H6009H7843H3117H1390H2142H5771H6485H2403 10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your forefathers as the earliest fruit on the fig tree in its first [season.] [But] they came to Baal-peor and devoted themselves to shame, And they became as detestable as that which they loved.H4672H3478H6025H4057H7200H1H1063H8384H7225H935H1187H5144H1322H8251H157 11As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird— No birth, no pregnancy, and no conception!H669H3519H5774H5775H3205H990H2032 12Though they bring up their children, Yet I will bereave them until not a man is left. Yes, woe to them indeed when I depart from them!H1431H1121H7921H120H188H5493 13Ephraim, as I have seen, Is planted in a pleasant meadow like Tyre; But Ephraim will bring out his children for slaughter.H669H7200H6865H8362H5116H669H3318H1121H2026 14Give them, O LORD— what wilt Thou give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.H5414H3068H5414H5414H7921H7358H6784H7699 15All their evil is at Gilgal; Indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels.H7451H1537H8130H7455H4611H1644H1004H160H3254H8269H5637 16Ephraim is stricken, their root is dried up, They will bear no fruit. Even though they bear children, I will slay the precious ones of their womb.H669H5221H8328H3001H6213H6529H3205H4191H4261H990 17My God will cast them away Because they have not listened to Him; And they will be wanderers among the nations.H430H3988H8085H5074H1471
