Punishment for Israel

9Do not rejoice, O Israel; do not be jubilant like the other nations. For you have been unfaithful to your God; you love the wages of a prostitute at every threshing floor.H8055H3478H1524H5971H2181H430H157H868H1637H17152Threshing floors and winepresses will not feed the people; the new wine will fail them.H1637H3342H7462H8492H35843They will not remain in the LORD'S land; Ephraim will return to Egypt and eat unclean food in Assyria.H3427H3068H776H669H7725H4714H398H2931H8044They will not pour out wine offerings to the LORD, nor will their sacrifices please him. Such sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat them will be unclean. This food will be for themselves; it will not come into the temple of the LORD.H5258H3196H3068H6149H2077H3899H205H398H2930H3899H5315H935H1004H30685What will you do on the day of your appointed feasts, on the festival days of the LORD?H6213H4150H3117H3117H2282H30686Even if they escape from destruction, Egypt will gather them, and Memphis will bury them. Their treasures of silver will be taken over by briers, and thorns will overrun their tents.H1980H7701H4714H6908H4644H6912H4261H3701H7057H3423H2336H1687The days of punishment are coming, the days of reckoning are at hand. Let Israel know this. Because your sins are so many and your hostility so great, the prophet is considered a fool, the inspired man a maniac.H3117H6486H935H3117H7966H935H3478H3045H5030H191H7307H376H7696H7230H5771H7227H48958The prophet, along with my God, is the watchman over Ephraim, yet snares await him on all his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.H6822H669H430H5030H6341H3352H1870H4895H1004H4309They have sunk deep into corruption, as in the days of Gibeah. God will remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins.H6009H7843H3117H1390H2142H5771H6485H240310"When I found Israel, it was like finding grapes in the desert; when I saw your fathers, it was like seeing the early fruit on the fig tree. But when they came to Baal Peor, they consecrated themselves to that shameful idol and became as vile as the thing they loved.H4672H3478H6025H4057H7200H1H1063H8384H7225H935H1187H5144H1322H8251H15711Ephraim's glory will fly away like a bird—no birth, no pregnancy, no conception.H669H3519H5774H5775H3205H990H203212Even if they rear children, I will bereave them of every one. Woe to them when I turn away from them!H1431H1121H7921H120H188H549313I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place. But Ephraim will bring out their children to the slayer."H669H7200H6865H8362H5116H669H3318H1121H202614Give them, O LORD—what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that are dry.H5414H3068H5414H5414H7921H7358H6784H769915"Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious.H7451H1537H8130H7455H4611H1644H1004H160H3254H8269H563716Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered, they yield no fruit. Even if they bear children, I will slay their cherished offspring."H669H5221H8328H3001H6213H6529H3205H4191H4261H99017My God will reject them because they have not obeyed him; they will be wanderers among the nations.H430H3988H8085H5074H1471
