The Blessings of Israel

44"But now listen, O Jacob, My servant; And Israel, whom I have chosen:H8085H3290H5650H3478H977 2Thus says the LORD who made you And formed you from the womb, who will help you, 'Do not fear, O Jacob My servant; And you Jeshurun whom I have chosen.H559H3068H6213H3335H990H5826H3372H3290H5650H3484H977 3'For I will pour out water on the thirsty [land] And streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring, And My blessing on your descendants;H3332H4325H6771H5140H3004H3332H7307H2233H1293H6631 4And they will spring up among the grass Like poplars by streams of water. 'H6779H996H2682H6155H4325H2988 5"This one will say, 'I am the Lord's'; And that one will call on the name of Jacob; And another will write [on] his hand, 'Belonging to the LORD ,'And will name Israel's name with honor.H559H3068H7121H8034H3290H3789H3027H3068H3655H8034H3478 6"Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: 'I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me.H559H3068H4428H3478H1350H3068H6635H7223H314H1107H430 7'And who is like Me? Let him proclaim and declare it; Yes, let him recount it to Me in order, From the time that I established the ancient nation. And let them declare to them the things that are coming And the events that are going to take place.H7121H5046H6186H7760H5769H5971H857H935H5046 8'Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any [other] Rock? I know of none.' "H6342H7297H7297H8085H227H5046H5707H3426H433H1107H6697H3045

The Folly of Idolatry

9Those who fashion a graven image are all of them futile, and their precious things are of no profit; even their own witnesses fail to see or know, so that they will be put to shame.H3335H6459H8414H2530H3276H5707H7200H3045H954 10Who has fashioned a god or cast an idol to no profit?H3335H410H5258H6459H3276H1115 11Behold, all his companions will be put to shame, for the craftsmen themselves are mere men. Let them all assemble themselves, let them stand up, let them tremble, let them together be put to shame.H2270H954H2796H120H6908H5975H6342H954H3162 12The man shapes iron into a cutting tool, and does his work over the coals, fashioning it with hammers, and working it with his strong arm. He also gets hungry and his strength fails; he drinks no water and becomes weary.H1270H2796H4621H6466H6352H3335H4717H6466H3581H2220H7457H3581H369H8354H4325H3286 13[Another] shapes wood, he extends a measuring line; he outlines it with red chalk. He works it with planes, and outlines it with a compass, and makes it like the form of a man, like the beauty of man, so that it may sit in a house.H2796H6086H5186H6957H8388H8279H6213H4741H8388H4230H6213H8403H376H8597H120H3427H1004 14Surely he cuts cedars for himself, and takes a cypress or an oak, and raises [it] for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a fir, and the rain makes it grow.H3772H730H3947H8645H437H553H6086H3293H5193H766H1653H1431 15Then it becomes [something] for a man to burn, so he takes one of them and warms himself; he also makes a fire to bake bread. He also makes a god and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down before it.H120H1197H3947H2552H5400H644H3899H6466H410H7812H6213H6459H5456 16Half of it he burns in the fire; over [this] half he eats meat as he roasts a roast, and is satisfied. He also warms himself and says, "Aha! I am warm, I have seen the fire."H8313H2677H1119H784H2677H398H1320H6740H6748H7646H2552H559H1889H2552H7200H217 17But the rest of it he makes into a god, his graven image. He falls down before it and worships; he also prays to it and says, "Deliver me, for thou art my god."H7611H6213H410H6459H5456H7812H6419H559H5337H410 18They do not know, nor do they understand, for He has smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend.H3045H995H2902H5869H7200H3826H7919 19And no one recalls, nor is there knowledge or understanding to say, "I have burned half of it in the fire, and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat [it.] Then I make the rest of it into an abomination, I fall down before a block of wood!"H7725H3820H1847H8394H559H8313H2677H1119H784H644H3899H1513H6740H1320H398H6213H3499H8441H5456H944H6086 20He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver himself, nor say, "Is there not a lie in my right hand?"H7462H665H2048H3820H5186H5337H5315H559H8267H3225

God Forgives and Redeems

21"Remember these things, O Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant, O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me.H2142H3290H3478H5650H3335H5650H3478H5382 22"I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, And your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you."H4229H5645H6588H6051H2403H7725H1350 23Shout for joy, O heavens, for the LORD has done [it!] Shout joyfully, you lower parts of the earth; Break forth into a shout of joy, you mountains, O forest, and every tree in it; For the LORD has redeemed Jacob And in Israel He shows forth His glory.H7442H8064H3068H6213H7321H8482H776H6476H7440H2022H3293H6086H3068H1350H3290H6286H3478 24Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, "I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself, And spreading out the earth all alone,H559H3068H1350H3335H990H3068H6213H5186H8064H7554H776 25Causing the omens of boasters to fail, Making fools out of diviners, Causing wise men to draw back, And turning their knowledge into foolishness,H6565H226H907H7080H1984H7725H2450H268H1847H5528 26Confirming the word of His servant, And performing the purpose of His messengers. [It is I] who says of Jerusalem, 'She shall be inhabited!' And of the cities of Judah, 'They shall be built.' And I will raise up her ruins [again.]H6965H1697H5650H7999H6098H4397H559H3389H3427H5892H3063H1129H6965H2723 27"[It is I] who says to the depth of the sea, 'Be dried up!' And I will make your rivers dry.H559H6683H2717H3001H5104 28"[It is I] who says of Cyrus, '[He is] My shepherd! And he will perform all My desire.' And he declares of Jerusalem, 'She will be built,' And of the temple, 'Your foundation will be laid.'"H559H3566H7462H7999H2656H559H3389H1129H1964H3245
