Jeremiah 26

Jeremiah Saved from Death

26In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from the LORD, saying,H7225H4468H3079H1121H2977H4428H3063H1697H3068H5592"Thus says the LORD: 'Stand in the court of the LORD'S house, and speak to all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD'S house, all the words that I command you to speak to them. Do not diminish a word.H559H3068H5975H2691H3068H1004H1696H5892H3063H935H7812H3068H1004H1697H6680H1696H1639H16973'Perhaps everyone will listen and turn from his evil way, that I may relent concerning the calamity which I purpose to bring on them because of the evil of their doings.'H8085H7725H376H7451H1870H5162H7451H2803H6213H6440H7455H46114"And you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD: "If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My law which I have set before you,H559H559H3068H8085H3212H8451H5414H64405"to heed the words of My servants the prophets whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending them (but you have not heeded),H8085H1697H5650H5030H7971H7925H7971H80856"then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth."'"H5414H1004H7887H5414H5892H7045H1471H7767So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.H3548H5030H5971H8085H3414H1696H1697H1004H30688Now it happened, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, "You will surely die!H3414H3615H1696H3068H6680H1696H5971H3548H5030H5971H8610H559H4191H41919"Why have you prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, 'This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant'?" And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.H5012H8034H3068H559H1004H7887H5892H2717H3427H5971H6950H3414H1004H306810When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king's house to the house of the LORD and sat down in the entry of the New Gate of the LORD'S house.H8269H3063H8085H1697H5927H4428H1004H1004H3068H3427H6607H2319H8179H306811And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and all the people, saying, "This man deserves to die! For he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears."H559H3548H5030H8269H5971H559H376H4941H4194H5012H5892H8085H24112Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and all the people, saying: "The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city with all the words that you have heard.H559H3414H8269H5971H559H3068H7971H5012H1004H5892H1697H808513"Now therefore, amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; then the LORD will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you.H3190H1870H4611H8085H6963H3068H430H3068H5162H7451H169614"As for me, here I am, in your hand; do with me as seems good and proper to you.H3027H6213H5869H2896H347715"But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its inhabitants; for truly the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing."H3045H3045H4191H5414H5355H1818H5892H3427H571H3068H7971H1696H1697H24116So the princes and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, "This man does not deserve to die. For he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God."H559H8269H5971H3548H5030H376H4941H4194H1696H8034H3068H43017Then certain of the elders of the land rose up and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:H6965H582H2205H776H559H6951H5971H55918"Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple Like the bare hills of the forest."'H4320H4183H5012H3117H2396H4428H3063H559H5971H3063H559H559H3068H6635H6726H2790H7704H3389H5856H2022H1004H1116H329319"Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah ever put him to death? Did he not fear the LORD and seek the LORD'S favor? And the Lord relented concerning the doom which He had pronounced against them. But we are doing great evil against ourselves."H2396H4428H3063H3063H4191H4191H3373H3068H2470H3068H6440H3068H5162H7451H1696H587H6213H1419H7451H531520Now there was also a man who prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath Jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.H376H5012H8034H3068H223H1121H8098H7157H5012H5892H776H1697H341421And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid and fled, and went to Egypt.H3079H4428H1368H8269H8085H1697H4428H1245H4191H223H8085H3372H1272H935H471422Then Jehoiakim the king sent men to Egypt: Elnathan the son of Achbor, and other men who went with him to Egypt.H3079H4428H7971H582H4714H494H1121H5907H582H471423And they brought Urijah from Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.H3318H223H4714H935H3079H4428H5221H2719H7993H5038H6913H1121H597124Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.H3027H296H1121H8227H3414H5414H3027H5971H4191

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
