Jeremiah 25
Holman Christian Standard Bible
25[This is] the word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah (which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).H1697H3414H5971H3063H7243H8141H3079H1121H2977H4428H3063H7224H8141H5019H4428H894 2The prophet Jeremiah spoke concerning all the people of Judah and all the residents of Jerusalem as follows:H3414H5030H1696H5971H3063H3427H3389H559 3"From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until this very day— 23 years— the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you time and time again, but you have not obeyed.H7969H6240H8141H2977H1121H526H4428H3063H3117H7969H6242H8141H1697H3068H1696H7925H1696H8085 4The LORD sent all His servants the prophets to you time and time again, but you have not obeyed or even paid attention.H3068H7971H5650H5030H7925H7971H8085H5186H241H8085 5He announced, 'Turn, each of you, from your evil way of life and from your evil deeds. Live in the land the LORD gave to you and your ancestors for ever and ever.H559H7725H376H7451H1870H7455H4611H3427H127H3068H5414H1H5704H5769H5769 6Do not follow other gods to serve them and to worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger by the work of your hands. Then I will do you no harm.H3212H310H312H430H5647H7812H3707H4639H3027H7489 7" 'But you would not obey Me'— [this is] the LORD's declaration— 'in order that you might provoke Me to anger by the work of your hands and bring disaster on yourselves.'H8085H5002H3068H3707H4639H3027H7451 8"Therefore, this is what the LORD of Hosts says: 'Because you have not obeyed My words,H559H3068H6635H8085H1697 9I am going to send for all the families of the north'— [this is] the LORD's declaration— 'and [send for] My servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will bring them against this land, against its residents, and against all these surrounding nations, and I will completely destroy them and make them a desolation, a derision, and ruins forever.H7971H3947H4940H6828H5002H3068H5019H4428H894H5650H935H776H3427H1471H5439H2763H7760H8047H8322H5769H2723 10I will eliminate the sound of joy and gladness from them— the voice of the bridegroom and the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.H6H6963H8342H6963H8057H6963H2860H6963H3618H6963H7347H216H5216 11This whole land will become a desolate ruin, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for 70 years.H776H2723H8047H1471H5647H4428H894H7657H8141 12When the 70 years are completed, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation'— [this is] the LORD's declaration— 'the land of the Chaldeans, for their guilt, and I will make it a ruin forever.H7657H8141H4390H6485H4428H894H1471H5002H3068H5771H776H3778H7760H5769H8077 13I will bring on that land all My words I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book that Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations.H935H776H1697H1696H3789H5612H3414H5012H1471 14For many nations and great kings will enslave them, and I will repay them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.'"H7227H1471H1419H4428H5647H7999H6467H4639H3027 15This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, said to me: "Take this cup of the wine of wrath from My hand and make all the nations I am sending you to drink from it.H559H3068H430H3478H3947H3196H3563H2534H3027H1471H7971H8248 16They will drink, stagger, and go out of their minds because of the sword I am sending among them."H8354H1607H1984H6440H2719H7971 17So I took the cup from the LORD's hand and made all the nations drink [from it], everyone the LORD sent me to.H3947H3563H3068H3027H1471H8248H3068H7971 18[These included:] Jerusalem and the [other] cities of Judah, its kings and its officials, to make them a desolate ruin, an object of scorn and cursing— as it is today;H3389H5892H3063H4428H8269H5414H2723H8047H8322H7045H3117 19Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officers, his leaders, all his people,H6547H4428H4714H5650H8269H5971 20and all the mixed peoples; all the kings of the land of Uz; all the kings of the land of the Philistines— Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;H6153H4428H776H5780H4428H776H6430H831H5804H6138H7611H795 21Edom, Moab, and the Ammonites;H123H4124H1121H5983 22all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands across the sea;H4428H6865H4428H6721H4428H339H5676H3220 23Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all those who shave their temples;H1719H8485H938H7112H6285 24all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed peoples who have settled in the desert;H4428H6152H4428H6153H7931H4057 25all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;H4428H2174H4428H5867H4428H4074 26all the kings of the north, both near and far from one another; that is, all the kingdoms of the world which are on the face of the earth. Finally, the king of Sheshach will drink after them.H4428H6828H7350H7138H376H251H4467H776H6440H127H4428H8347H8354H310 27"Then you are to say to them: This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk, and vomit. Fall down and never get up again, as a result of the sword I am sending among you.H559H559H3068H6635H430H3478H8354H7937H7006H5307H6965H6440H2719H7971 28If they refuse to take the cup from you and drink, you are to say to them: This is what the LORD of Hosts says: You must drink!H3985H3947H3563H3027H8354H559H559H3068H6635H8354H8354 29For I am already bringing disaster on the city that bears My name, so how could you possibly go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth"— [this is] the declaration of the LORD of Hosts.H2490H7489H5892H7121H8034H5352H5352H5352H7121H2719H3427H776H5002H3068H6635 30"As for you, you are to prophesy all these things to them, and say to them: The LORD roars from on high; He raises His voice from His holy dwelling. He roars loudly over His grazing land; He calls out with a shout, like those who tread [grapes], against all the inhabitants of the earth.H5012H1697H559H3068H7580H4791H5414H6963H6944H4583H7580H7580H5116H6030H1959H1869H3427H776 31The tumult reaches to the ends of the earth because the LORD brings a case against the nations. He enters into judgment with all flesh. As for the wicked, He hands them over to the sword— [This is] the LORD's declaration.H7588H935H7097H776H3068H7379H1471H8199H1320H5414H7563H2719H5002H3068 32"This is what the LORD of Hosts says: Pay attention! Disaster goes forth from nation to nation. A great storm is stirred up from the ends of the earth."H559H3068H6635H7451H3318H1471H1471H1419H5591H5782H3411H776 33Those slain by the LORD on that day will be [spread] from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be mourned, gathered, or buried. They will be like manure on the surface of the ground.H2491H3068H3117H7097H776H7097H776H5594H622H6912H1828H6440H127 34Wail, you shepherds, and cry out. Roll [in the dust], you leaders of the flock. Because the days of your slaughter have come, you will fall and become shattered like a precious vase.H3213H7462H2199H6428H117H6629H3117H2873H8600H4390H5307H2532H3627 35Flight will be impossible for the shepherds, and escape, for the leaders of the flock.H7462H4498H6H117H6629H6413 36[Hear] the sound of the shepherds' cry, the wail of the leaders of the flock, for the LORD is destroying their pasture.H6963H6818H7462H3215H117H6629H3068H7703H4830 37Peaceful grazing land will become lifeless because of the LORD's burning anger.H7965H4999H1826H6440H2740H639H3068 38He has left His den like a lion, for their land has become a desolation because of the sword of the oppressor, because of His burning anger.H5800H5520H3715H776H8047H6440H2740H3238H6440H2740H639
