Promise of Restoration

33While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time:H1697H3068H3414H8145H6113H2691H4307H559 2"This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it—the LORD is his name:H559H3068H6213H3068H3335H3559H3068H8034 3'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'H7121H6030H5046H1419H1219H3045 4For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the houses in this city and the royal palaces of Judah that have been torn down to be used against the siege ramps and the swordH559H3068H430H3478H1004H5892H1004H4428H3063H5422H5550H2719 5in the fight with the Babylonians: 'They will be filled with the dead bodies of the men I will slay in my anger and wrath. I will hide my face from this city because of all its wickedness.H935H3898H3778H4390H6297H120H5221H639H2534H7451H5641H6440H5892 6"'Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.H5927H724H4832H7495H1540H6283H7965H571 7I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before.H7622H3063H7622H3478H7725H1129H7223 8I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me.H2891H5771H2398H5545H5771H2398H6586 9Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.'H8034H8342H8416H8597H1471H776H8085H2896H6213H6342H7264H2896H7965H6213 10"This is what the LORD says: 'You say about this place, "It is a desolate waste, without men or animals." Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, inhabited by neither men nor animals, there will be heard once moreH559H3068H8085H4725H559H2720H120H929H5892H3063H2351H3389H8074H120H3427H929 11the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, saying, "Give thanks to the LORD Almighty, for the LORD is good; his love endures forever." For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before,' says the LORD.H6963H8342H6963H8057H6963H2860H6963H3618H6963H559H3034H3068H6635H3068H2896H2617H5769H935H8426H1004H3068H7725H7622H776H7223H559H3068 12"This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'In this place, desolate and without men or animals—in all its towns there will again be pastures for shepherds to rest their flocks.H559H3068H6635H4725H2720H120H929H5892H5116H7462H6629H7257 13In the towns of the hill country, of the western foothills and of the Negev, in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem and in the towns of Judah, flocks will again pass under the hand of the one who counts them,' says the LORD.H5892H2022H5892H8219H5892H5045H776H1144H5439H3389H5892H3063H6629H5674H3027H4487H559H3068 14"'The days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will fulfill the gracious promise I made to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.H3117H935H5002H3068H6965H2896H1697H1696H1004H3478H1004H3063 15"'In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land.H3117H6256H6780H6666H6779H1732H6213H4941H6666H776 16In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.'H3117H3063H3467H3389H7931H983H7121H3072 17For this is what the LORD says: 'David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel,H559H3068H1732H3808H3772H376H3427H3678H1004H3478 18nor will the priests, who are Levites, ever fail to have a man to stand before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.'"H3548H3881H3772H376H6440H5927H5930H6999H4503H6213H2077H3117 19The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:H1697H3068H3414H559 20"This is what the LORD says: 'If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time,H559H3068H6565H1285H3117H1285H3915H3119H3915H6256 21then my covenant with David my servant—and my covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before me—can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne.H1285H6565H1732H5650H1121H4427H3678H3881H3548H8334 22I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars of the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.'"H6635H8064H5608H2344H3220H4058H7235H2233H1732H5650H3881H8334 23The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:H1697H3068H3414H559 24"Have you not noticed that these people are saying, 'The LORD has rejected the two kingdoms he chose'? So they despise my people and no longer regard them as a nation.H7200H5971H1696H559H8147H4940H3068H977H3988H5006H5971H1471H6440 25This is what the LORD says: 'If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed laws of heaven and earth,H559H3068H1285H3119H3915H7760H2708H8064H776 26then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his sons to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.'"H1571H3988H2233H3290H1732H5650H3947H2233H4910H2233H85H3446H3290H7622H7725H7725H7355
