Miracle at Cana

2ON THE third day there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.G2532G5154G2250G1096G1062G1722G2580G1056G2532G3384G2424G2258G15632Jesus also was invited with His disciples to the wedding.G1161G2532G2424G2564G2532G846G3101G1519G10623And when the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no more wine!G2532G5302G3631G3384G2424G3004G4314G846G2192G3756G36314Jesus said to her, [Dear] woman, what is that to you and to Me? [What do we have in common? Leave it to Me.] My time (hour to act) has not yet come.G2424G3004G846G1135G5101G1698G2532G4671G3450G5610G2240G3768G22405His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it.G846G3384G3004G1249G3748G302G3004G5213G41606Now there were six waterpots of stone standing there, as the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing) demanded, holding twenty to thirty gallons apiece.G1161G2258G2749G1563G1803G5201G3035G2596G2512G2453G5562G1417G2228G5140G3355G3037Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. So they filled them up to the brim.G2424G3004G846G1072G5201G5204G2532G1072G846G1072G2193G5078Then He said to them, Draw some out now and take it to the manager of the feast [to the one presiding, the superintendent of the banquet]. So they took him some.G2532G3004G846G501G3568G2532G5342G755G2532G53429And when the manager tasted the water just now turned into wine, not knowing where it came from--though the servants who had drawn the water knew--he called the bridegroomG1161G5613G755G1089G5204G1096G3631G2532G1492G3756G4159G2076G1161G1249G3588G501G5204G1492G755G5455G356610And said to him, Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now!G2532G3004G846G3956G444G4412G5087G2570G3631G2532G3752G3184G5119G1640G4771G5083G2570G3631G2193G73711This, the first of His signs (miracles, wonderworks), Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory [by it He displayed His greatness and His power openly], and His disciples believed in Him [adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Him].G5026G746G4592G4160G2424G1722G2580G1056G2532G5319G846G1391G2532G846G3101G4100G1519G84612After that He went down to Capernaum with His mother and brothers and disciples, and they stayed there only a few days.G3326G5124G2597G1519G2584G846G2532G846G3384G2532G846G80G2532G846G3101G2532G3306G1563G3756G4183G2250

First Passover—Cleansing the Temple

13Now the Passover of the Jews was approaching, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.G2532G2453G3957G2258G1451G2532G2424G305G1519G241414There He found in the temple [enclosure] those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting there [also at their stands].G2532G2147G1722G2411G4453G1016G2532G4263G2532G4058G2532G2773G252115And having made a lash (a whip) of cords, He drove them all out of the temple [enclosure]--both the sheep and the oxen--spilling {and} scattering the brokers' money and upsetting {and} tossing around their trays (their stands).G2532G4160G5416G1537G4979G1544G3956G1537G2411G5037G4263G2532G1016G2532G1632G2855G2772G2532G390G513216Then to those who sold the doves He said, Take these things away (out of here)! Make not My Father's house a house of merchandise (a marketplace, a sales shop)!G2532G2036G4453G4058G142G5023G1782G4160G3361G3450G3962G3624G3624G171217And His disciples remembered that it is written [in the Holy Scriptures], Zeal (the fervor of love) for Your house will eat Me up. [I will be consumed with jealousy for the honor of Your house.]G1161G846G3101G3415G3754G2076G1125G2205G4675G3624G2719G3165G271918Then the Jews retorted, What sign can You show us, seeing You do these things? [What sign, miracle, token, indication can You give us as evidence that You have authority and are commissioned to act in this way?]G3767G611G2453G2532G2036G846G5101G4592G1166G2254G3754G4160G502319Jesus answered them, Destroy (undo) this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.G2424G611G2532G2036G846G3089G5126G3485G2532G1722G5140G2250G1453G846G145320Then the Jews replied, It took forty-six years to build this temple (sanctuary), and will You raise it up in three days?G3767G2036G2453G5062G2532G1803G2094G3618G3778G3485G3618G2532G1453G4771G1453G846G1453G1722G5140G225021But He had spoken of the temple which was His body.G1161G1565G3004G4012G3485G846G498322When therefore He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this. And so they believed {and} trusted {and} relied on the Scripture and the word (message) Jesus had spoken.G3753G3767G1453G1537G3498G846G3101G3415G3754G3004G5124G846G2532G4100G1124G2532G3056G3739G2424G203623But when He was in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast, many believed in His name [identified themselves with His party] after seeing His signs (wonders, miracles) which He was doing.G1161G5613G2258G1722G2414G1722G3957G1722G1859G4183G4100G1519G846G3686G2334G846G4592G3739G416024But Jesus [for His part] did not trust Himself to them, because He knew all [men];G1161G2424G846G4100G3756G4100G1438G846G1223G846G1097G395625And He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man [needed no evidence from anyone about men], for He Himself knew what was in human nature. [He could read men's hearts.] [I Sam. 16:7.]G2532G3754G5532G2192G3756G2443G5100G3140G4012G444G1063G846G1097G5101G2258G1722G444
