Jonah 4

Jonah’s Displeasure Rebuked

4But it greatly displeased Jonah, and he became angry.H3415H3124H1419H7451H27342And he prayed to the LORD and said, "Please LORD, was not this what I said while I was still in my [own] country? Therefore, in order to forestall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that Thou art a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity.H6419H3068H559H577H3068H1697H127H1272H6923H8659H3045H2587H410H7349H750H639H7227H2617H5162H74513"Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for death is better to me than life."H3068H3947H5315H2896H4194H24164And the LORD said, "Do you have good reason to be angry?"H559H3068H3190H27345Then Jonah went out from the city and sat east of it. There he made a shelter for himself and sat under it in the shade until he could see what would happen in the city.H3124H3318H5892H3427H6924H5892H6213H5521H3427H6738H7200H58926So the LORD God appointed a plant and it grew up over Jonah to be a shade over his head to deliver him from his discomfort. And Jonah was extremely happy about the plant.H3068H430H4487H7021H5927H3124H6738H7218H5337H7451H3124H1419H8057H8055H70217But God appointed a worm when dawn came the next day, and it attacked the plant and it withered.H430H4487H8438H7837H5927H4283H5221H7021H30018And it came about when the sun came up that God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head so that he became faint and begged with [all] his soul to die, saying, "Death is better to me than life."H8121H2224H430H4487H2759H6921H7307H8121H5221H7218H3124H5968H7592H5315H4191H559H2896H4194H24169Then God said to Jonah, "Do you have good reason to be angry about the plant?" And he said, "I have good reason to be angry, even to death."H430H559H3124H3190H2734H7021H559H3190H2734H419410Then the LORD said, "You had compassion on the plant for which you did not work, and [which] you did not cause to grow, which came up overnight and perished overnight.H559H3068H2347H7021H5998H1431H1121H3915H6H1121H391511"And should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 1200000 persons who do not know [the difference] between their right and left hand, as well as many animals?"H2347H5210H1419H5892H3426H7235H8147H6240H7239H120H3045H3225H8040H7227H929

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
