Deborah and Barak Rescue from Canaanites

4BUT AFTER Ehud died the Israelites again did evil in the sight of the Lord.H1121H3478H3254H6213H7451H5869H3068H164H41912So the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth-hagoiim [fortress or city of the nations].H3068H4376H3027H2985H4428H3667H4427H2674H8269H6635H5516H3427H2800H14713Then the Israelites cried to the Lord, for [Jabin] had 900 chariots of iron and had severely oppressed the Israelites for twenty years.H1121H3478H6817H3068H8672H3967H7393H1270H6242H8141H2394H3905H1121H34784Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, judged Israel at that time.H1683H5031H802H3941H8199H3478H62565She sat under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came up to her for judgment.H3427H8560H1683H7414H1008H2022H669H1121H3478H5927H49416And she sent and called Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, Has not the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded [you], Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 men from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun?H7971H7121H1301H1121H42H6943H559H3068H430H3478H6680H3212H4900H2022H8396H3947H6235H505H376H1121H5321H1121H20747And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin's army, to meet you at the river Kishon with his chariots and his multitude, and I will deliver him into your hand?H4900H5158H7028H5516H8269H2985H6635H7393H1995H5414H30278And Barak said to her, If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go.H1301H559H3212H1980H3212H32129And she said, I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the trip you take will not be for your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. [Fulfilled in Judg. 4:22.]H559H1980H3212H657H1870H1980H8597H3068H4376H5516H3027H802H1683H6965H3212H1301H694310And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and he went up with 10,000 men at his heels, and Deborah went up with him.H1301H2199H2074H5321H6943H5927H6235H505H376H7272H1683H592711Now Heber the Kenite, of the descendants of Hobab, the father-in-law of Moses, had separated from the Kenites and encamped as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh.H2268H7017H1121H2246H2859H4872H6504H7017H5186H168H436H6815H694312When it was told Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor,H5046H5516H1301H1121H42H5927H2022H839613Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even 900 chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him from Harosheth-hagoiim to the river Kishon.H5516H2199H7393H8672H3967H7393H1270H5971H2800H1471H5158H702814And Deborah said to Barak, Up! For this is the day when the Lord has given Sisera into your hand. Is not the Lord gone out before you? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men following him.H1683H559H1301H6965H3117H3068H5414H5516H3027H3068H3318H6440H1301H3381H2022H8396H6235H505H376H31015And the Lord confused {and} terrified Sisera and all his chariot drivers and all his army before Barak with the sword. And Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled on foot.H3068H2000H5516H7393H4264H6310H2719H6440H1301H5516H3381H4818H5127H727216But Barak pursued after the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoiim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the sword; not a man was left.H1301H7291H310H7393H4264H2800H1471H4264H5516H5307H6310H2719H259H760417But Sisera fled on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.H5516H5127H7272H168H3278H802H2268H7017H7965H2985H4428H2674H1004H2268H701718And Jael went out to meet Sisera and said to him, Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; have no fear. So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug.H3278H3318H7125H5516H559H5493H113H5493H3372H5493H168H3680H806319And he said to her, Give me, I pray you, a little water to drink for I am thirsty. And she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him.H559H4592H4325H8248H6770H6605H4997H2461H8248H368020And he said to her, Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, Is there any man here? Tell him, No.H559H5975H6607H168H376H935H7592H559H3426H376H3426H55921But Jael, Heber's wife, took a tent pin and a hammer in her hand and went softly to him and drove the pin through his temple and into the ground; for he was in a deep sleep from weariness. So he died.H3278H2268H802H3947H3489H168H7760H4718H3027H935H3814H8628H3489H7541H6795H776H7290H5774H419122And behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him and said to him, Come, and I will show you the man you seek. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the tent pin was in his temples.H1301H7291H5516H3278H3318H7125H559H3212H7200H376H1245H935H5516H5307H4191H3489H754123So God subdued on that day Jabin king of Canaan before the Israelites.H430H3665H3117H2985H4428H3667H6440H1121H347824And the hand of the Israelites bore more and more upon Jabin king of Canaan until they had destroyed [him].H3027H1121H3478H3212H1980H7186H2985H4428H3667H3772H2985H4428H3667

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
