Advice to the Young

7To have knowledge, you must first have reverence for the LORD. Stupid people have no respect for wisdom and refuse to learn.H3374H3068H7225H1847H191H936H2451H41488My child, pay attention to what your father and mother tell you.H1121H8085H4148H1H5203H8451H5179Their teaching will improve your character as a handsome turban or a necklace improves your appearance.H3880H2580H7218H6060H162110My child, when sinners tempt you, don't give in.H1121H2400H6601H1411Suppose they say, "Come on; let's find someone to kill! Let's attack some innocent people for the fun of it!H559H3212H693H1818H6845H5355H260012They may be alive and well when we find them, but they'll be dead when we're through with them!H1104H2416H7585H8549H3381H95313We'll find all kinds of riches and fill our houses with loot!H4672H3368H1952H4390H1004H799814Come and join us, and we'll all share what we steal."H5307H1486H8432H259H359915My child, don't go with people like that. Stay away from them.H1121H3212H1870H4513H7272H541016They can't wait to do something bad. They're always ready to kill.H7272H7323H7451H4116H8210H181817It does no good to spread a net when the bird you want to catch is watching,H2600H7568H2219H5869H1167H367118but people like that are setting a trap for themselves, a trap in which they will die.H693H1818H6845H531519Robbery always claims the life of the robber - this is what happens to anyone who lives by violence.H734H1214H1215H3947H5315H1167

Wisdom Calls

20Listen! Wisdom is calling out in the streets and marketplaces,H2454H7442H2351H5414H6963H733921calling loudly at the city gates and wherever people come together:H7121H7218H1993H6607H8179H5892H559H56122"Foolish people! How long do you want to be foolish? How long will you enjoy making fun of knowledge? Will you never learn?H6612H157H6612H3887H2530H3944H3684H8130H184723Listen when I reprimand you; I will give you good advice and share my knowledge with you.H7725H8433H5042H7307H3045H169724I have been calling you, inviting you to come, but you would not listen. You paid no attention to me.H7121H3985H5186H3027H718125You have ignored all my advice and have not been willing to let me correct you.H6544H6098H14H843326So when you get into trouble, I will laugh at you. I will make fun of you when terror strikes -H7832H343H3932H6343H93527when it comes on you like a storm, bringing fierce winds of trouble, and you are in pain and misery.H6343H935H7722H7584H343H857H5492H6869H6695H93528Then you will call for wisdom, but I will not answer. You may look for me everywhere, but you will not find me.H7121H6030H7836H467229You have never had any use for knowledge and have always refused to obey the LORD.H8130H1847H977H3374H306830You have never wanted my advice or paid any attention when I corrected you.H14H6098H5006H843331So then, you will get what you deserve, and your own actions will make you sick.H398H6529H1870H7646H415632Inexperienced people die because they reject wisdom. Stupid people are destroyed by their own lack of concern.H4878H6612H2026H7962H3684H633But whoever listens to me will have security. He will be safe, with no reason to be afraid."H8085H7931H983H7599H6343H7451
