Ruth 2

Ruth Meets Boaz

2There was a relative of Naomi's husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.H5281H4129H3045H376H1368H376H2428H4940H458H8034H11622So Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, "Please let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain after him in whose sight I may find favor." And she said to her, "Go, my daughter."H7327H4125H559H5281H3212H7704H3950H7641H310H5869H4672H2580H559H3212H13233Then she left, and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers. And she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.H3212H935H3950H7704H310H7114H4745H7136H2513H7704H1162H4940H4584Now behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, "The LORD be with you!" And they answered him, "The LORD bless you!"H1162H935H1035H559H7114H3068H559H3068H12885Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, "Whose young woman is this?"H559H1162H5288H5324H7114H52916So the servant who was in charge of the reapers answered and said, "It is the young Moabite woman who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab.H5288H5324H7114H6030H559H4125H5291H7725H5281H7704H41247"And she said, 'Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.' So she came and has continued from morning until now, though she rested a little in the house."H559H3950H622H310H7114H6016H935H5975H227H1242H3427H4592H10048Then Boaz said to Ruth, "You will listen, my daughter, will you not? Do not go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay close by my young women.H559H1162H7327H8085H1323H3212H3950H312H7704H5674H1692H52919"Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them. Have I not commanded the young men not to touch you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn."H5869H7704H7114H1980H310H6680H5288H5060H6770H1980H3627H8354H5288H757910So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, "Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?"H5307H6440H7812H776H559H4672H2580H5869H5234H523711And Boaz answered and said to her, "It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before.H1162H6030H559H5046H5046H6213H2545H310H4194H376H5800H1H517H776H4138H3212H5971H3045H8543H803212"The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge."H3068H7999H6467H8003H4909H3068H430H3478H3671H935H262013Then she said, "Let me find favor in your sight, my lord; for you have comforted me, and have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants."H559H4672H2580H5869H113H5162H1696H3820H8198H259H819814Now Boaz said to her at mealtime, "Come here, and eat of the bread, and dip your piece of bread in the vinegar." So she sat beside the reapers, and he passed parched grain to her; and she ate and was satisfied, and kept some back.H1162H559H6256H400H5066H1988H398H3899H2881H6595H2558H3427H6654H7114H6642H7039H398H7646H349815And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, "Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her.H6965H3950H1162H6680H5288H559H3950H6016H363716"Also let grain from the bundles fall purposely for her; leave it that she may glean, and do not rebuke her."H7997H6653H7997H5800H3950H160517So she gleaned in the field until evening, and beat out what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.H3950H7704H6153H2251H3950H374H818418Then she took it up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. So she brought out and gave to her what she had kept back after she had been satisfied.H5375H935H5892H2545H7200H3950H3318H5414H3498H764819And her mother-in-law said to her, "Where have you gleaned today? And where did you work? Blessed be the one who took notice of you." So she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and said, "The man's name with whom I worked today is Boaz."H2545H559H3950H3117H375H6213H1288H5234H5046H2545H6213H559H376H8034H6213H3117H116220Then Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, "Blessed be he of the LORD, who has not forsaken His kindness to the living and the dead!" And Naomi said to her, "This man is a relation of ours, one of our close relatives."H5281H559H3618H1288H3068H5800H2617H2416H4191H5281H559H376H7138H135021Ruth the Moabitess said, "He also said to me, 'You shall stay close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.'"H7327H4125H559H559H1692H5288H3615H710522And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, "It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, and that people do not meet you in any other field."H5281H559H7327H3618H2896H1323H3318H5291H6293H312H770423So she stayed close by the young women of Boaz, to glean until the end of barley harvest and wheat harvest; and she dwelt with her mother-in-law.H1692H5291H1162H3950H3615H8184H7105H2406H7105H3427H2545

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
